Is Yaya already an All Time City Great?

He's a great player without any doubt and he has had a few great seasons for us too, when you compare him too people like Colin Bell, Mike Doyle, Frannie Lee, Alan Oakes, Mike Summerbee etc etc. He has not really started on his road to City glory yet and although he will always be remembered as a great City player, I don't think he will become an all time City great. Just my opinion as an old twat with high City Player standards ;-)

He's not only a City great, he's simply a great. Since enjoying the display on Wednesday I've watched the highlights on the web site and from the BBC and Ya Ya on the ball has a presence, authority and calm that I have actually seen twice before - in 1956 I was taken to OT to see Real Madrid and Alfredo Di Stefano strolled through the evening at his own pace, doing what he liked whenever he chose. I saw it again 15 years later from a certain Mr Beckenbauer. Ya Ya is as great as that.

blimey your standards are high..I bet you,ve left a couple of old bints crying in loos at the derby and joan.. ;)

Definitely yes ! He can look lazy and like be has a stone in his shoe when he's running (or ambling) back. He does give the odd lazy, careless pass away when we've comitted lots of players forwards, causing a counter-attack against us and a mad scramble back, but I've tried and failed to think of a more complete midfielder in world football. A player who does the lot and comes up with the goods in big games. You could argue Gerrard and lampard but both are past their best and probably both lack yaya's intricate skills. True legend. Along with a few other players we have. We are extremely lucky !

The Official facebook page just posed this question along with congratulations for his 3rd consecutive African player of the year award,

Thoughts?

For me definitely, he has left an indelible imprint on our modern history and will continue to do so as he plays out his career with us
He's definitely going to be regarded as one when he finishes playing for us. What he's done for and with us already is more than most players ever do for any club as he's been one of the main catalysts in taking us from a Europa League/just below top four Prem club to what we are now, he's a proper world star and a super star in Africa playing for us so that will be making us a lot of money in merchandise sales.

Because of the situation that existed and the way the club is/was changing, the signing of Yaya was crucial to our future success.. Huge presence, no crap/baggage that came with him, incredibly talented footballer and gone on to be a truly excellent ambassador for our great club.

I actually witnessed his debut for us (I think) here in Atlanta vs some Mexican team and he was simply brilliant that night. My first words to a fellow blue at the match were "Fooking ell, we've actually got someone who can pass the ball..... at long last!" and this was within the first 10 minutes. For a friendly the game was played at a good pace and pretty competitive so we did see a glimpse of the future with Yaya and needless to say it was all rosy, which it really has turned out to be (given last season was used to simply catch our breath before pushing right on again this season) and a huge (probably more than any of us recognize right now) part of this is down to my favorite Ivorian - Mr Yaya Toure!

Thank you so much Yaya and carry on sir!!
