Personally don't think wel buy an alternative . I've read it elsewhere but I think Isco comes under the category of special talent you just have to buy. I rec we may go back to the Cavani table if we miss out here, I just can't see him starting next season in Naples.

I don't quite get the logic - whatever happens and whomever we miss out on Cavani is simply not worth £50m and we won't pay it. I guess a compromise may be worked out but that will probably be at 23:59 on August 31st.

I think a deal for circa 40m will eventually be done with either ourselves or madrid

You may be right but after August 10th if Cavani pushes it.

Hate to burst your bubble but Pellagrini is due to start work today ( 24th June, as mentioned on the OS when we announced we had signed him, see link below. ).... its nothing to do with getting him in early for Isco.

I would say the fact he hasn't flown in yet might be Isco related

My point.

Hopefully it isn't to do with waiting till CA arrives b4 makin' it official.

Despite everything, I am pretty sure that our bids - everything included - will now be topping the Madrid one.

If the matter comes down to a player + cash deal (from RM) we need to have a v. powerful counter proposition ready and waiting. Pretty much as of now.

If it does go Pete Tong, then I have the utmost faith In MP finding the alternative from his time in Spain. He must know the scene there completely back to front.

Keep the faith.

me neither. I was surprised we were in for him at all given our midfield options, but then I saw him at the U-21s and his potential is obvious. That said, I don't think his signing will affect us next season - it's more the potential over the next 3-4 years because he could become a really special player, or he may not!

Not sure about Cavani. Napoli President seems to have shot his mouth off a bit, and perhaps alienated his player but a centre-forward seems to be the priority particularly if Tevez goes. I'd go for Benteke or a young and up coming forward from Iberia / S.America

Just to add another positive post into the mix:

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.malagacf.com/en/new/comunicado/official-statement-from-malaga-club-futbol-and-granada-club-futbol/601/70089" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.malagacf.com/en/new/comunica ... /601/70089</a>

Here's some evidence of Malaga OS (most recent news post) posting about agreeing a fee with another club so if it were the case that they had decided to sell to Madrid im sure they would have it on their site.

Also on SSN, James Cooper said we are still waiting for Pellegrini to fly into Manchester. HAS TO BE because of Isco.

you do realise thats not about isco

You do realise he and everyone else realises that?

Read it properly.

Re: Isco (Part 8 (weekend saga part 3))

Tbh i would have at least expected a fee agreed subject to medical announcement if it was as cut and dried as the Spanish press claim.

Don't forget this is what usually happens with Madrid. They then pretty much follow the players every move as he goes through his medical.

I'm very doubtful that he is going to come to City but i'll hold on to the hope he will until something official comes out.

It would be no shame at all to lose out on a player to Madrid. To be even having a big chance of signing someone in favour of Madrid is dreamland

Is it a good thing if that link you provided comes up with "Internal Error" ?

Manuel Pellegrini yesterday made a last-ditch attempt to save City’s bid to land Spanish whizkid Isco.

But it seems like the Blues’ dream signing has been hijacked by a forceful Real Madrid move, just when it appeared the player was in the bag.

Now City are set to reconsider their options, including a possible renewed bid for Napoli striker Edinson Cavani.

I hope that means you approve of my suggestion Blue Smarties, as it is a bit of a tolmie cryptic gif. Or maybe i'm just gullible.
I do approve of your suggestion. I love Muniain, to the point where I managed to get some unfortunate sod at university dubbed Iker Muniain. Imagine every time you went out, you'd get a fairly large group (sport social) of pissed lads chanting pro Muniain chants at you - even when you're trying to neck some girl. He soon got bored of the attention!
