Islamic Terrorism: is religion/belief no matter how misguided, the main motivator?

If you think of it, staunchly not believing in any religion is itself a religion.

A religion is not necessarily attached to a god (such as the Abrahamic religions) or many gods (such as hinduism, paganism, there are many). Atheism even existed in the olden days as religion itself. Greeks who disbelieved in god(s) yet cling on to the words of Homer, is what you are exhibiting now by clinging to the words of George Carlin. Religion is belief, and it doesn't take a god figure to validate it. Atheism has been the bread and butter of civilization, but was never propelled to its heights that it is now becoming because there were simply no 'holy book' (or unholy / antiholy book?) to ascribe its teaching. But we all know its doctrines. 1. There is no god. 2. Everything can be explained with knowledge. 3. Mono and polytheity is the heresy of this belief. It has its own set of unwritten tenets, that people in this thread expresses. You believe religion is absurd for example. These were not derived naturally from birth, but influenced by your exposures to what is atheism and the atheist construct in the media.

George Carlin is literally your version of a prophet :)

Damn right he is, he had a grey beard :)

What a load of bollocks. You clearly have a deep rooted issue with Islam and ALL muslims, the rest of us only have an issue with the radicalised ones who seek to harm innocent people and our way of life. No wonder you "didn't want to have this discussion on here", it's pretty obvious from this post you have some radicalised views yourself, the funny thing is you are sounding as fascistic as those who seek to divide us. I'd love to know how Islam is dominating the UK?

........................and the usual emotional cycle is almost complete! Horror, then shock, then passive cathartic expressions of solidarity, some debate and vilification of anyone who suggests there might be a problem, then we blame ourselves ... next stage is completely forget until the next one. Wash rinse repeat.

Woman on my team at work has done this.

She's just trotted out the awful line of "we need to look ourselves and why we as a society allow this to happen to young males".

Would have told her to take her head for a shit if she wasn't more senior. Stupid ****.

No I dislike the religion not the individual people, sadly statistically the more Muslims you have the more extremists you have, that you can't deny!

I just want a safe place for our children to live, It isn't at the moment we already have child rape gangs, terrorist attacks, discrimination so imagine when the indigenous population are the minority, we will be spat at and classed a single second class citizens, this you also can't deny!

Eventually the males will be butchered and the woman used as sex slaves
Dear oh dear. What a pile of paranoid shite.

Reminds me of the Till Death Us Do Part scene where Tony Booth is going out for some fish and chips and Alf Garnett tells him to use the English chippy not the Chinese one. When Both asked him why, Alf said that the Chinese chippy owners were all undercover Communists and at a given signal from Mao Tse Tung, they would poison everyone and take over.

That was a very paranoid, over the top post yes but the matter of indigenous population % vs. immigrant ethnicities % is a legitimate concern that should be controlled for all manner of reasons, none of them a race issue. It sort of becomes a political issue when you ask the question - "do you want to be like the USA?" You'll have globalists who want no borders with one answer and people who understand the need for borders to manage regional economy, balance populations and retain as many cultures as possible (for the benefit of all) with another. Also the consideration of what all our past wars were fought for.

To back up my point, I found Erdogan's comments a while ago very concerning coming from a leading political figure where he effectively called on Turks to take over the future of Europe: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/201...-families-have-five-children-bulwark-against/

With the dramatic decline in the number of wars in the modern day and the inevitable population booms because of that and health advances, over-population is a significant concern and when it comes down to the crunch it will become a race issue whether people are willing to admit that or not - it's instinctive for people to look after their own (whatever they categorise that as, which at a basic level is nationality).

On the flip-side, it's worth reinforcing the point that any country welcoming different ethnicities and cultures produces beautiful benefits the kind of which wouldn't otherwise. This has led to all manner of music styles coming about. Just like many things, a balance has to be addressed - ying and yang.

Good points, sadly, absolute common sense seems to be a diminishing characteristic.

Now that's the best post yet,not long before these medieval lunatics are eradicated, from this area at least.
The daft construct naming itself 'Islamic state,' is in retreat.

Mosul is the last major city under ISIS control. The rest of the land is essentially barren desert with no buildings or roads, with some interspersed town between it.

This didn't get widely reported because of the Manchester attack, but yesterday ISIS leadership fled Mosul entirely and set themselves up in Al Qa'im. This is now considered the head of the global ISIS operation.

It has a population roughly the size of Inverness. In GDP terms, it's somewhere around the Isle of Skye.

Mosul has roughly the population of Greater Manchester to give you an idea of the scale of the fallback.
