But to dignify it with an answer, let's say I was arrested and tried for an offence with two others, who were proven to have played an equal or greater part in that offence. Let's also surmise that they were found not guilty and I wasn't or we were all found guilty but I was given a custodial sentence when they weren't. Then I would certainly appeal and probably win.

of course, if it was all 1 equal offence. However in reality there have been a combination of offences commited by each side, so you know full well in a court it would be very different and some people will then take a side depending on a) their beliefs b) their conclusion from studying the evidence or c) the opinion they form while not being able to see all the facts.
