Istanbul CL Final chaos | City Matters statement (p 133)

I think this is exactly where UEFA show their contempt for match going supporters.
They open a fan park and 'encourage' fans to drink there. Don't forget Heineken is an official sponsor of the CL.
They then stick em on a bus for 2 hours without any toilet facilities.

It's ridiculous and they are so far out of touch with the real people who pay to watch these games.
But do they care? Do they f***.
They'll be busy being looking after the corporates.

That was another reason I didn't stay in the fanzone in town any length of time. Straight off the bus from the airport, quick piss and then onto another bus to the stadium. The only upside of that first journey was that I was aware there wasn't any toilets on them.

Wouldn't have been hard for them to stick a blue barrel drum on each bus with some water in them for everybody. Just treated with contempt all day. 5.5hrs+ travelling time in my case without any access to a toilet or water. Fortunately I was able to hold it in until the fanzone in town. Some elderly guy wasn't as lucky and had to get out on the main road and almost fell back into the Vietnam-like tunnel roadside that he'd just urinated in.

I spoke to several shop owners in the grand bazaar who weren’t fans of either side but managed to get a ticket along the sides and they had no problem with transport in or out or hospitality.I bet the Inter fans were in a better position as the route up to the Metro would have been well establishe.
Looks like we just drew the short straw.

It’s just bollocks from UEFA isn’t it?
I arrived at 4pm on Friday at SAW and used the metro/marmoray to get to my hotel at Yenikapi. I arrived at 6pm and the service was really slick. Used the metro again on Friday evening to get to Taksim for a drink and something to eat. Used the metro again on Saturday to get to and from the ground. It was absolutely packed, but it kept everybody moving. Used it again on Sunday to get back to the airport. I didn’t see any trouble between any fans. UEFA caused there own problems with there pathetic organisation.
Did you go straight to the Metro after the match? We looked at the bus park first and sacked that off. By the time we got to the Metro (after 1 am) there were no queues. 8 metro trains could shift 20,000 fans (= 400 buses).

Yes straight on the metro. I used it for all the journeys whilst in Istanbul including to and from the airport.

The queues and prices inside the ground were an absolute joke. Luckily we sacked the fan park off early doors as it was crap and headed inside hours before KO and managed to get served relatively quickly, but the queues an hour or so before KO were unreal.

Im sure they were just typing numbers into their calculator and charging whatever they wanted unless people queried it. Thieves.

We took the metro and although it was a pain changing 3 times on the way there it was relatively simple. Metro back to Taksim and was back there before 2.
Again, did you go straight to the Metro after the game? Any queues? (I'm trying to establish how quickly the Inter fans got away.)

That fuckin pathetic talkshite 'compere' and lickspittle to the even worse simon know-nowt jordan, jim white, was asking whether travel to/from the stadium and conditions around it were 'really as bad as City fans were making out', as if the all the tales of shocking arrangements, infrastructure and complete lack of basics for match-going fans were something of an invention, absolute fuckin prick!!
Compare to the fuckin rimming he was giving the dippers last year after a glut of forgeries caused mayhem at their end in Paris, the station is a joke! I know I should stick to summat else on the dog walk, but sometimes the loop on uk gold is just a little too narrow...
Btw, alex crook(?) put him right saying even 5 hours before the game his taxi driver ditched 'em saying he wouldn't be able to reach the ground in time, and that the metro alternative was dangerously overcrowded. Hmmm, time to change subject for jim white - after the break we'll discuss the latest in the 'manchester united' ownership saga!!
I'd be interested in when the metro was overcrowded - full and standing around 5/6 pm but within capacity (300 people per carriage!).
