That said: watched Topkapi the other night for the first time since I saw it in the cinema in 1964!! In honour of the final.
Cracking film. Istanbul then did not look particularly clean, and it certainly looked chaotic. But it also looked really fascinating, and the Bosphorus seems to have a certain grandeur to it. When you think what episodes in history that narrow stretch of water has seen. One of the few European capitals that I wish I'd visited and haven't.

I'm definitely glad I went to Istanbul. It's a great city with a fascinating mixture of cultures. I just wish it wasn't so big and choked with traffic.

I'm still here! Admittedly not because I'm still trying to live up the City party but because I have a holiday until Sunday.

I've had time to come down from the Nevizade mega party and experience much more of the city and what it offers.

I still think it's a great place and the history is wonderful, the city party was utterly mega, but there are negatives like most big cities. Anyhoo I don't want to dwell, great times had and they absorbed 100k fans like it was nothing.

Great observation ... just goes to show if they(Turkey/Istanbul) wants to do something right, they can ! But, if they can't be bothered, it'll turn to a level of shit worse than in other 3rd world countries.
