It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back...

You don't find it slightly amusing hearing people discussing a revolution on a Internet forum. The same people who also discuss going to the game, their holidays, the latest film they have seen. The problems with kodi and if they should buy the home or away shirt. Nurses earning 30 grand a year needing food banks. None of this seems even slightly spoilt to you or lacking in any sort of reality of life.

NO?

Ah well carry on it's giving me a giggle.

But bar maybe 1 or 2 who have said they are up for it, no one has called for a revolution, @Bigga asked what would push people to a revolution in this society today.

and I doubt anyone who has replied is using food banks, still doesn't mean we cannot be disgusted they are needed in a rich society like ours.

I wasn't literally meaning people were sharpening their pitchforks more people do seem to be a little spoilt nowadays. Their view of poverty is deluded.

Ok fair enough , but what do you think would cause people to consider revolting? I said earlier on the introduction of marshal law, a breakdown in society through a death of democratic choice, or a ban on alcohol.

And, further to add to this point, we are constantly being told to 'get online' by these governments and by big business. Everything is being shepherded in this direction to 'keep connected'.

Buying a £300 laptop/ tv/ phone that lasts for 3/4 years doesn't exclude from the food bank that might be a monthly occurrence.

SWP's Back has made an outrageous assumption.
No I haven't. I stand by it.

If I had kids and couldn't afford to feed them then the TV and laptop would go before they went hungry.

But I just don't like receiving handouts I guess.

What do you think it would take for a revolution to happen in modern society?

It strikes me that as a world we have become Sheople. The majority of us on social media, watch reality tv, on zero hour contracts, earn minimum wage, prices going up, taxes going up, social care being squeezed, corporations getting away with not paying into society as much.

I'm wondering why people, as a society, continually work against their own self interests and, therefore, think "why should I [fill in the blanks]?".

What will it take for things to change...?

I'm genuinely interested in the thoughts of all sides.
Hi Jeremy

Yep.

This country is full of Stockholm syndrome and this election will prove it.
I fully agree about the Stockholm Syndrome.

It could be argued that we had something of a rebellion last June and yet there are millions still stuck up the EU arse and unable to break their minds free

Any government that tried to disband the NHS

And I'm going to regret posting that
