Martin Samuel nailed it with his piece that someone put up in another thread,I think.

He wrote about this generation of players being the real golden generation.

Now at the risk of being labeled as a hater or not behind the team.
I'm wondering whether Gareth is going to be more of a Marc Wilmots or Roberto Martinez than a Sir Alf.

I guess we will be closer to finding out the truth Sunday night.

I totally disagree with you on this.

Tell you what mate, you can disagree with me all you like. You haven’t explained why you disagree with me, so to me you just come across as a bitter fucker. Let me guess, you don’t like Southgate as a manager and you’re sticking to your guns and not backing down over it. Any English football fan that can’t be excited over the first final for 55 years has got either a serious agenda or just a sad bastard.

But anyway, each to their own. I’ll be in the pub with my mates on Sunday, singing some songs and getting pissed. If we win, it will be biggest party for years. But for you, win or lose, you’ll be still be on here posting absolute fucking shite.

Same to you. You post shite as well

Don't know why just not feeling it, wasn't nervous when it went to extra time, and wasn't that elated when they won. I'd like them to win but it's nothing like the feelings of nerves or excitement when watching City, or building to a game..
I accept that. Remember this time 6 weeks ago, the buzz on here was off the scale, and then the Saturday that felt like the longest day ever, filled with nerves, excitement and dread. That's football excitement.

This is different, and I think because the entire country is feeling it, it makes it different. If we lose, there will be 5 minutes of disappointment but then happy with the experience I just had. If we win, it'll be amazing, but i'll watch the trophy being lifted and immediately look forward to August and our season starting. If Pep hadn't messed up those 6 weeks ago, I think i'd still be celebrating now.

There is a big difference between the excitement of club football and international football, but I can't see why the negative ones have to constantly slate the way we've supposedly got to the final, find fault in Southgate, call our Sterling for diving etc. They might as well just stop watching and look forward to August, and leave those enjoying the tournament to it.

I don't slate Sterling or any of City's English players. There is a difference. Both Stones and Sterling I have fully backed

The thing is I have enjoyed the tournament. I just haven't backed any team and I say what I see in regards to the national side.

He is.

Championship standard manager at best who's dropped lucky with qualification and tournament draws. I won't begrudge him winning on Sunday. But it covers a lot of cracks.

As i said i was wrong about Southgate. He may not be the most adventurous but so what.Keegan,Hoddle and Sven had the so called golden generation and did nothing.Southgate has moulded his own team and if they win it.It wont say won it by being pragmatic.Just like Greece and Portugal it will say winners.Come on England!!

After a dull group stage, I think we’ve been very good in the knockouts.

The English just love to be contrary. Especially City supporters. The lower down the leagues you go, the more the supporters fucking love it because they see beyond a Liverpool or a United player in the team.

Do I think Southgate is a brilliant manager? No. However, he clearly is a very good person who gives and restores faith in players. His man-management of Sterling since 2016 has been top. I don’t agree with some of his selections, however, he’s earned the right to make those selections by taking us to the final.

I don’t care about the luck of the draw, and it’s amazing that us as City supporters are lamenting him for it. Our route to the 2019 FA Cup final anyone? No one gives a toss we beat Newport, Swansea, Brighton or Rotherham on the way when we were faced with another final at Wembley.

Thank fuck the children I teach are buzzing and not such a bunch of mard arses, they’re fucking loving it and it’s infectious.

Smile and appreciate the position our country finds itself in before a final, it won’t hurt.
