The De Rossi/Martinez debate is an interesting one.

On one hand there's De Rossi who for my money is as good as it gets in the center of midfield. The thought of havim De Rossi, Yaya and Gaz Baz to chose from is mouth watering. A true warrior with class pouring from him, at 28 he's bang in his prime and we could get a good 5 years of top quality from him.

Then there's Martinez who at such a young age already looks like a class act and every bit as versitlie as De Rossi, perhaps more so. Like many others i believe Javi will be the best DM in the world in the next few years. However he has Barca written all over him and no doubt after a few years he would be clamering for a move to the Nou Camp.

I'd preffer Martinez if i believed we could keep hold of him for many years but i doubt we could. De Rossi would be a brilliant signing but Roma is in his blood so he would be hard to get... Either way it looks like being yet another long, exciting and bloody frustrating transfer window... Sigh!

It smacked of both the player helping the club realise a proper fee further down the line.

I still think £20m would represent good business and Mancini never gives up, we should all know this by now ;)

Maybe Mancio and some more of our Serie A clan can update his current situation.

There is a distinct whiff of Barca in the air, but they can't raise the buy-out cash.

Bilbao are happy to bide their time, whether it's down to Martinez, that would be speculation.

All our eggs are not in the one basket, on any target, it's just the type of players we have identified are problematic for clear reasons.

Perhaps Barca are preparing to offload one of their players, I might be wrong and tell me if i am but would Martinez leave for another spanish club as i thought he was Bilbao through and through?

I think they realise they dropped a clanger by getting rid of Yaya, he was the type of player that they missed in certain games last season and cost them the League and in Europe.

Martinez would ceratinly be that "type" of player they've been missing, it also says a lot about him if Barca are in the mix.
