Pssht! Two words.

Maria. Sharapova.

Selling AJ for 15m, buying Jarvis for 6m, I'm OK with it. We cant sign only starter players, weed bench players too, Jarvis is a good crosser, not world beater but if he would be world beater he would come to start every match.

Why not Hoilett if we want a bargain bin winger? He'd cost even less (compensation) and had a much better season than Jarvis, and still hasn't transferred even though Monchengladbach were rumoured to be signing him. Honestly don't know if Jarvis is any better than Weiss. Weiss had a better season for a better team yet we're looking to flog him and going after West Ham target Jarvis?

Wouldn't even be an improvement on AJ.

The sought-after centre back has been subject of intense speculation all summer, with Manchester City, Chelsea and French outfit Paris Saint-Germain all said to have opened talks over a deal.

City manager Roberto Mancini was even spotted meeting with Milan officials in Italy last month, but the club were quick to play down their interest, despite continued speculation that a £30 million bid was imminent.

PSG openly went a step further and lodged a huge offer last month, that included a £5 million-a-year five-year contract for Silva, which Milan eventually declined.

The player has always maintained his desire to stay at Milan, and that loyalty has now been rewarded with the Rossoneri boosting his salary to around £80,000-a-week, netting him close to £4 million-a-season.

The news comes a little over a year since Silva last renewed his Milan contract, which will continue to run until 2016, but is a sign of how highly rated he is among Europe's elite clubs.

City are now expected to turn their attention elsewhere, with Silva's fellow countryman Dede and Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia on Mancini's lengthy list of alternatives.
