It a generational thing which is coming to pass. The kids coming through now aren't star-struck or live-in-fear of someone like Ferguson.
Sure, they will respect him, but all they see now is an old man in charge of a football club that might win things, but won't pay them the going rate, won't be around long term.
That's why they go after players who are still grateful when United make admiring glances, like Powell, Jones and Smalling.
They may still be fooling plenty, but those players were secured because they are second or third best to what they were previously accustomed to cherry-picking.
United resemble the scene in the wonderful film Cinderella Man.
Braddock goes and visits his agent at his swanky New York apartment in the middle of the first Great Depression.
He enters an empty shell, all the furniture sold to keep up appearances.
Keep telling yourselves this. United fear what tomorrow has already brought them. Now they fear what the future holds.
And they will continue to lie, and compromise themselves to maintain appearances.
Danny Welbeck has been mugged-off on a new contract for over 12 months, despite a year left on it.
He now wants what he is worth, they don't want to pay it, but they will have no choice.

Pogba, Morrison and Fryers were 'the big three' from their youth set up, supposedly the natural heirs to Ratboy, the Ginger Pig,The Family Wrecker etc.
That all three have left in a matter of months, especially when they keep banging on about being a club that promotes youth and 'does things the right way', shows that Shakin Bacon just hasn't got it any more.
He can't even spin his fake myths and bullshit to local lads who have been at their club since they were nippers.
We have terrified the life out of the old pisscan. He is in the throes of his death rattle.
When push came to shove, he brought back a retired thug to play in Midfield, rather than give Pogba a go. And then came to our place a frightened man, playing with 10 men behind the ball like relegation candidates and not managing a single shot on target.
We have our foot on their throat now.
A couple of top level signings and we will really start to squeeze . . .
Great post.
FBloke's famous "Tipping Point" was May 13th 2012.
Thats why we are looking at the next best talent I reckon? At some point the glazers will HAVE to sell! In certain players we have the experience and age perfect! Hart,Richards, kompany, clichy, aguero, balotelli, nasri and even silva can play together for another 5-6 years at top levels! Hopefully adding javi Martinez and maybe m'via then we have a top quality backbone for years to come! Hopefully we are looking still at Lucas muara (sp?) still as without doubt the new c ronaldo that lad!okstate99 said:tolmie's hairdoo said:I realise we have gone off on a tangent here, however, it does give serious pointers towards our own transfer power and potential.

UTD isnt poor their owners are, if the Glazers were foreced to sell to pay for their debts UTD would be back to old self, sadly.
This is like the story of Los Angeles Dodgers. Their owner went through hard time in his other business, had trouble meeting weekly payroll even for the stadium workers, He got divorced and his wife wanted half the value of the club. And he want to court to get a cut of the new tv package (they have a local tv package that was due to be bided on).
The court case was finally settled and it sold for almost double what everyone thought it was worth. MLB made him sell the club since he was spending the income from future revenue the club was going to be insolvent if he was allowed to keep up. Now the club is ran by good finically sound owners, and he after his debts, his wife, and his lawsuits walked away with $800 millon of the 2billon sell price.
My whole point is I hope the Glazer never sell, other wise their saddle of debt might go away and UTD will be able to spend again.

Mattyc55 said:Zeki is a good friend of mine and this myth that Fergie has been trying to contact him is complete bollocks.. the offer on the table to him was an absolute disgrace and absolutely NOTHING close to 10k a week. Welbeck and Cleverly are both on low wages and now that they're England internationals, the club need to realise that Welbeck should be on a similar wage to Hernandez (who he starts ahead of) and other England players such as Carroll and Sturridge. United have been mugging off local talent for years (Wes Brown) and they're in massive danger of losing Danny now. Pogba was also offered peanuts (contrary to what has been written in the press).
They're fucked.

* The fact he was 'shaking with anger' at United's presentation do and left early after being told about the RIP banner.
* Admitted to hospital with a severe nosebleed.
* The fact one of his usual allies, Dave Whelan, broke ranks and told the media Ferguson wouldn't go on much longer and hinted at health issues.
United fans keep banging on about him having seen off Arsenal and Chelsea in the past, but that was when he was a younger man. And neither of them ever, ever got under his skin and inside his mind like we have done over the last couple of years or so.
The so-called master of mind games has been well and truly taken to school by City. And like most bullies who are challenged, he has found that he can't take it nearly as well as he dishes it out

You have a great point there but I'm sure the loans they took out cant be paid up! So if they Do ever sell up I think it'll be around 2017
