Doesn't Tolm use the Elgar clip when its in relation to a missed opportunity or someone leaving. I recall last seeing Elgar when we missed out on Hazard.

Also, the fact it says hankies and not tissues could mean its tears.

I think Tolm is implying its time to say "farewell" to someone.

I always thought Elgar was brought out on the verge of a signing, usually a big one.

Alan Nixon (Mirror journo I think) has just said on twitter that we're about to make a surprise signing.

What's his twitter name mate? Thanks for providing the twitter source and not just saying it's a 'twitter rumour' or it's 'all over twitter'.

I think any surprise signing for us will be a lesser known player rather than a marquee one unfortunately

His Twitter name is @reluctantnicko but its a protected account. @mirrorfootball retweeted his tweet which was "Manchester City about to make a very surprise signing ..."

He seems to be followed by a few journo's so there may be something in it.

Heh, I'm normally a pretty optimistic bloke. Most recent tweet could point to Agger I suppose, but hardly counts as a 'surprise' signing. We're all pretty aware that we're after him.
