Just a thought, but perhaps Marwood is still having some difficulty de-ciphering the Youtube links that Mancini sent to him when he was asked to identify targets.

:D

You really are a humourless little wretch, aren't you ?

Anyway, back on subject, I've just taken a look through our transfer dealing from the last 3 seasons and one thing stands out.

We've brought in 1 (ONE) player for what I would call 'a bargain' and that was Gael Clichy. Other than that we have paid either market value (Yaya, Silva, Nasri, Aguero) or well above market value (everyone else) on every player.

Having a look at outgoing transfers, we've been pretty much screwed on every single outgoing transfer that we've done (the only ones that we have received significant fees for were Robinho & Boateng, and both of them were well below their market worth).

Now wages may have an influence on these two points, but it is clear that our negotiating team (whoever they may be) are pretty poor.

I have a sense of humour, but I find your continued cheap digs at someone I liked who no longer posts on here thanks to the likes of you irritating and unfunny.

The players we are looking to get in are in the top bracket and are probably difficult to get in as the clubs they play for dont want to sell, unless we pay well over the odds.

We must have evaluations for the targeted players which dont equate to the selling clubs. Frustrating for the manager for preparation but we have generally got the players previously in the end, like Aguero, Nasri.

The 2 players who we have missed out on this summer who would have been good additions, Hazard and Silva both went for higher values than their worth.

Khaldoon said in his yearly end of year interview on OS that wont be so much signings one or two that really makes the team stronger. But we are stopping other clubs to look at us as a "giving money as a gift" club.

Mansour said the same a few days ago. One or two signings.

If it is down to Mancini Hazard would be here or Lavezzi. Also Cavani and/or RVP. And Thiago Silva too. De Rossi too.

Surely I give the heat to Marwood a lot but he is between two sides. Mancini would sign RVP, T. Silva, De Rossi. But Khaldoon could make a budget which we cant go over in fees or wages. If we are scared of FFP that is down to Khaldoon and Mansour not Marwood.

With the outgoing players we did a horrible job. Doesnt really matter why, Marwood, or the players doesnt want to move, or no teams coming for them, Kolo-NDJ contract situation still not solved etc.

In that case, don't read my posts (don't know where that came from, to be honest..... Think I heard someone say it recently)......

....(by the way, as you're clearly looking to apportion blame, I was neither logged in on the evening that he chose to flounce, nor have I cut off his electricity).

I can see why people say he shouldn’t criticise marwood in public. But if this outburst means marwood is pressurised into completing deals for agger and de rossi then would you think the outburst was a good or bad idea? Personally i’m happy for mancini to have a go at marwood if it increases our chances of getting these players.
With mancini there is a motive behind everything he says – he hasn’t done this on a whim or even out of frustration. It’s a tactic to influence things to the outcome he wants.

He said exactly the same thing last summer about Marwood at a presser.

It might be just his way to stop the reporter asking questions and to deflect the shit, Marwood may well be cool with him taking this approach and we're reading too much in to it?

That thought had crossed my mind. I would love it if this is an elaborate strategy to make it appear there’s friction between marwood and mancini. Marwood on the phone to DDR agent right now “listen, my balls are in a vice – Roberto wants deals done and the owners won’t budge on price. You either take the offer we have made or i’m going to have to move on to other targets. Time has run out.”

Sometimes things can just be straigtforward and not an elaborate smokescreen or whatever other theory people on bluemoon come up with.

Maybe he actually is pissed off with Marwood.

what people seem to forget is that in order to sell players on you need to have buyers for them. we have several players like Adebayor and RSC and to a lesser extent Kolo who are on huge wages. we needed to pay this guys big money to get them in a few years ago. Now we want rid but they're not simply going to tear up their contracts and walk away. why would they? they'll get paid regardless.

No one will spend huge money on these guys because they know they will have to offer decent wages to come close to what city pay them. as a result there are very few takers. just a fact of life, not a failing of marwoods, citys, mancinis or our sheikh. it is always going to be difficult to shift them.

we appear to be trying to fit in with FFPR and as a result we are least trying to look like we'll sell before we buy. this may change if we are stuck with the dross and we're under pressure before the window closes.

you can safely say one thing, even if FPPR never fully operates it has at least had one effect in that it has curbed our spending hugely and made us think long and hard over every transfer.

It's a shame that the transfer window coincides with school holidays...

Maybe he is. Shame on me for talking with Danamy about the possible reasons for mancini's comments.

It is (thanks for your kind words of support).

Can someone please show me the "Let's all hail Marwood for signing Aguero" thread?

I'm not a Marwood fan myself but i think he's coming under a lot of unfair criticism of late where his hands are tied on a lot of issues.

If he's getting the blame for not getting players in then where's the praise when he captures the likes of Aguero, can't have it both ways?
