Groundhog day.
Marwood was pissing around last summer with the Aguero negotiations, among others. The manager was clearly pissed off about it.
In the end, Sheikh Mansour sent Khaldoon over to end the fucking about and close the deal. It was done pretty much straight away.
Over in AD, I can see Khaldoon being asked to clear his diary for next week as we speak . . .

I know deals are complex but we do seem to take longer than say Chelsea to secure deals - that might be perception but Chelsea seem to do things in a couple of days whereas we seem to take a few weeks.

I cant see Khaldoon or Mansour being involved in choosing players for the squad. That would be kamikaze buying.

You only have to look at the Torres or Shevechenko signings by Chelsea.

Did I say the owners is choosing the players?

Marwood is working under directions from the owners.

Spot the difference.

So who has the ultimate say? Is it Marwood picking the team?

Who has the ultimate say?

When it come to finance, deffo the owners.
The club need to get some deadwood out of the squad before bringing in new faces.
Pretty sure the club wants to meet the FFP in a positive way.

Surely it's up to Mancini to win things & to identify the targets in order to keep on winning things (his job), but up to Marwood to use his nouse to find a way to bring them in (his job).

One of the two (not Mancini) is clearly not performing.

Sure, that could mean that he has to move players on first in order to balance the books, but it's not as if that is being done either.

Thing is that, like it or not, Adebayor & RSC (for example), will not be here on 1st September. So why not accept that fact and get rid of them now - in order to allow us to go after our targets - rather than hold on hoping for some angel to pay a transfer fee for them (which isn't going to happen) ?

Mancini has made this move, IMO, as HE is the man in power at the club at the moment. If he wasn't performing then he wouldn't be. Hopefully his 'balls out' power move will unblock a couple of situations (but I very much doubt that any of them will involve Agger due to him not being likely to be eligible for European competition).

It should also be noted that Mancini has been fobbed off with low quality reinforcement for his box-to-box midfield for the last 12 months now (first Hargreaves, then Pizzaro).

You can't say it's up to Mancini to identify his targets and then say he's been fobbed off with Hargreaves and Pizzaro..........his choice to take them players on, nobody elses.

Just to add though the targets Mancini identify's has to be realistic and attainable, Thiago Silva wasn't as an example.

& it feels like we've lost every tussle so far & the only one we've won is the tevez saga, & he's our own fucking player for god sakes.

Mancini hasn't just thrown a hissy fit, he knows exactly what he's doing coming out with those statements. It's easy to say Marwood is only working under the instructions of the Sheikh and Khaldoon but that doesn't mean he doesn't have a role to play himself. Mancini seems to feel he's not playing this role effectively enough hence his persistent ''ask Marwood'' answers whenever he's asked about transfers.

Exactly.

Marwood will have to run everything past the sheiks.
Fuckall to do with marwood.

Whether it is or it isn't, internal affairs should stay extactly that and a joint front should be portrayed to the public and media.

This just shows a potential divide within the club that the media are bound to explore even more.

Well if we want someone to play hardball at a negotiating table, I would rather an international businessman like Khaldoon was in there fighting our corner rather than a former Hull City winger who used to flog football boots

Marwood is working under direct orders from Khaldoon and Mansour.
It`s not up to Marwood who we sign or don`t.

This and only ever this.

Anyone who thinks transfer dealings are directed and/or decided by Marwood is frankly an idiot.

and I'm sure if Marwood is causing Bob such distress this will be dealt with accordingly by the owner. The continued success of the team is vital to the project and if Bob needs players the owner will get them.
