Could well be right.. however if he comes and delivers, his transfer fee would be astronomical..only Real would be realistic buyers as I would hope City would never sell a genius to the rags. But if he goes, someone else will be flavour of the month in 3 years.. In fact in three years, rags in the Championship, glazers would sell us the rags for the 500 million Erling fee.. We could then have a proper car park in Salford with a maglev train to the Etihad..It makes sense. Stops all the tram problems.

Edit.. yes, we could even call it the Alan Turing Tunnel...sorry have been out on the lash.

If they're asking questions like that it's a very good sign because it means we're closing. There's a combination of answers that means he'll sign, hopefully we'll be able to give them.
 
Liverpool refusing to give Salah what he wants, apparently he’s after 350k a week, we should get involved maybe offer him a deal, contract runs out next year.

100% then at the final moment when about to put the contract on the table, fall over as if shot and while rolling about on the floor fling the contract into the shredder. Sorry Mo.

Mbappe is an interesting case considering Real still tried to pay silly money last summer for him, despite having 12 months left. The pandemic destroying revenues has created a pretty unprecedented list of players available on frees though. Can't remember anything like this:

Not sure this is really anything new tbh man. Been happening since the bosman ruling came into place with very, very high profile players too. The only reason its happening now is because of PSG's/Mbappe circumstances, with PSG essentially being in a league with no real pulling power, combined with Mbappe being young enough for it to not be a big deal to bide his time there too. Also the market. It got so high due to PSG's ridiculous Neymar fee that there was no feasible way anyone could sell Mbappe for loads less (despite Madrid's really high bids being insane, but nowhere near PSG's Neymar price) as they'd have to essentially admit that they overpaid themselves, so Mbappe's only option was to wait his contract out really.

He was only on a four year contract too, which was sorta short, but it was because he joined as an 18 year old I guess. Most stars are on five years, and most usually won't want to wait around for ages to get a big pay day when they can still get it half way through their contract and fuck off. Short career after all and you never know where you'll be in a couple of years. I don't think this is gonna be a big change personally. The game's skint right now due to covid, but i think we'll be back where we were in a couple of years.

Its the new normal. Look how base ball works in the US. Players, toward the end of their careers just becoming mercenaries moving every year for massive wages.

Because of the PR and marketing value in doing a long stint at a club it will never get that bad but any decent agent will be working of the model of sign one big contract in early 20's to get top wages, then if they are elite level run that down and sign the next deal as a free agent. Why would you not do that? Any transfer fees paid are basically money that could go direct to a player.

If Pogba is stalling over £400m+ a year in wages then that is the base level for a top player. Salah would be a £500m+ player, Mbappe and Haaland will be that as well (less his transfer fee over the course of the contract). Some allowance for where they want to play but if Madrid cant get to £350m pa for mbappe and PSG offer him £500m to stay then he is going to stay.

Some crazy numbers will come out this summer but it just reflects the fact you have players in the top 5/10 in the world all agreeing deals at the same time.

Reading a article about it he wants a deal similar to KDB but Liverpool are refusing due to his age. Slowly the press are starting to turn on him. Saying if he went to Man City it would be legacy crushing, also that he’s a player in the wrong era to command a auction for his services whatever that means.

Baseball isn't a good comparison. Wages are artificially suppressed such that players are tied to the team that drafted them until their late 20's and don't earn a market wage until they can get on the open market. But to your larger point it very obviously makes economic sense for more players to run down their contracts then have historically done so.

Am struggling with these figures..So salah will be offered a princely 10 million a week ??? 500 million divided by 52 approx..even then with transfer fees and amortisation , seems a tad high ????

If we bought him, his first "tumble" in the area be play on with media and commentators saying no way a penalty due to his gravity defying natural fall to the floor, you know the same one he does most games and gets awarded alot of the time
