It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

It isn't homegrown / foreign makes no difference to our squad. The reason we aren't looking at foreign cheaper players instead of Phillips for whatever we pay for him is simply the club think Phillips is the best option for our squad.Going of the last few years transfers and results, the club will most likely be proved right.
I'm not sure it makes "no difference" to our squad - to be honest I don't fully undertand the quota rules but I think we currently have 8 "homegrown' players in the squad which is the minimum... If Sterling leaves then we are 1 HG place short...?

True, but i do think that we always look at the english players first when we buy new players. Simply because i think pep likes the principle that the best players in any given nation plays in the best team in that nation.

There is no minimum quota of 8 HG players.

The rule is a maximum of 17 foreign players.

Also this is the PL rule, we have to build our squad via the UEFA rules for Champions League purposes so it's max 17 foreign players, 4 Club trained players and 4 English players.

We currently have 13 foreign players (not including Mendy), 1 club trained player - Foden - and 6 English players - Sterling, Walker, Stones, Carson, Ake & Grealish.

So we actually have to list 2 English players as foreign players currently because we've filled up our English player pot.

Think thats the case, we have ake who is HG, with sterling leaving that would be 7, couldn’t we just promote a EDS player like Mcatee, Lavia, Mbete, CJ etc..? Think we have 22-23 man squad with ferna leaving, if you count Alvarez too

Palmer counts too right

Palmer counts too right

u21s go on a different list so they don't count (provided they've been at the club 2 years).

Palmer, CJ Egan Riley, Wilson-Esbrand, McAtee, Mbete etc. are all on the B list which is pretty much unrestricted.

Kayky, because he's only been here 1 year, doesn't qualify for the B list so we'd have to add him as a foreign player on the 25 man list if we wanted to play him in Europe.
