It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

I think it is nuts comparing Palmer and Torres, who was an established regular in La liga, in european competitions, and for his national side, but sure if he is good enough this year why the fuck not.

The point was squad size, and Palmer isn't replacing Torres any more than Grealish is replacing Sterling or Cancelo is replacing Zinchenko. Because they were all already here, and 3 will have left.

Which I know is a shallow way of looking at it in the overall squad make-up. But as I keep saying, it was a comment purely on squad size, not on quality, which is another discussion.

Agree generally with the rest, on the 5 subs etc.
Obviously it's true that he's nowhere near the level of experience, and I posted yesterday that we shouldn't get carried away analysing the very few games he's played.

HOWEVER, if you read the articles around the time Torres left, the club made it very clear that Palmer was a significant reason for them letting him go. That isn't as obvious as Palmer got injured almost as soon as Torres left, and only came back at the end of April when Pep had all the other forwards fit, and was clearly not in the mood to take any risks at all.

If we don't make a single transfer by the end of this window, this'll be another 2019/20 season where we'll only end up with a League Cup and your post is going to age like a milk.

Do you flap like this in all aspects of your life or just when it comes to football ?
You'll see when we only end up with a League Cup just like in 2019/20 when we thought not replacing Kompany was a great idea. This time it will be with Jesus/Sterling.

You don't win titles with academy players as your only subs, we struggled massively even when we replaced our best XI with Zinchenko, Sterling and Gundogan.

Well someone said that someone said Pep likes the look of Josh Wilson-Esbrand, Jordon Ibe Cole Palmer is better than Sterling and James McAtee is going to be a combination of Foden and David Silva but better.

So we've got nothing to worry about.

For domestic cup games (early rounds at least) & CL dead rubbers I wouldn't be surprised to see Borges and/or Mebude get game time either.
Can't wait we replace our big guns when they are injured with Borges, Mebude and similar in a 'dead rubber' games like Lyon, Spurs and Monaco because that turned out great last time around!
So much loser mentality cruising around this forum right now.

Ffs we let two wingers go and brought in 2 strikers. We had way too many wingers and not enough forward. This is a necessary correction and it's a lot better now. We don't need a forward.
It's great we finally brought strikers but you can't get rid of your wingers for that since they (strikers) can't replace them (wingers).

Ok, if it’s glory you’re hunting you won’t get many friends on this forum.

It’s mostly displayed by you.

Is that a failure for you? Were you around in the early 2000s?
It is not only a failure for me but for Guardiola, Mansour and everyone with a common sense.
Not sure if you noticed but we are not running on our early 2000s budget right now.
