I'd imagine he'll weigh up his options against what he has here and decide to either extend or go. Doesn't sound likely that he'll leave on a free now.

I'm sick of all these rumours of us giving away our players, they always under-value them. I saw yesteday Raheem to chelsea for £21.5m!!!, do they think we're stupid!

These are world class players with experience in winning big games and trophies, pay the going rate or fuck off!

Smart move tbh. His name is everywhere and some clubs need to make a statement. Take the lay of the land and then realise its best here hopefully and get back on it.

So basically he's pissed off at being behind Mahrez and Grealish in the pecking order when the big games came around last season.

This feels less about cast-iron assurances on numbers of games and more about Pep's view of him - does Pep still have faith in him to be a key man, form permitting? Or is the new contract offer more about homegrown status and protecting our investment?

I still feel like there's a non-zero chance he extends. Chelsea seems like an odd move. If Real are really interested I'd expect him to go there. I wouldn't be surprised if this ends with a heart to heart with Pep and Txiki to decide whether he stays or goes.
