It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

There is that.

The only one I could see extending is Mahrez.

Gundo I think will leave on a free and it will have been tremendous value. Don't see much sense in selling him. His value won't be that high, for what we paid for him, worth keeping a reliable experienced player another year.

Sterling I just think is beyond renewal now. As a situation, not as a player. But if there is no offer suitable for him orvtge club, then he'll stay too. Jesus feels like the one most likely to leave, he is far more desirable and easier to get.

There is a situation where we might possibly lose all three this summer, it’s the last summer City can get money for these players, Mahrez has a lot of clubs interested in him being the age he is City probably would sell if 40 to 50 mil was offered. PSG is the one I’d look out for according to French press they want Mahrez to replace Di Maria.

Gabriel Jesus is one foot out the door if you want to believe the reliable Arsenal sources I saw one that said they might offer 35 to 40 mil i think city accepts that. I also think he goes if we can’t promise him constant starts as it’s a world cup year.

Raz is the difficult one but AC Milan have concrete interest and want a Marquee signing Raz fits that Marquee signing for them. We probably wouldn’t charge them a huge sum either due to contract length. Barca have long standing interest as Xavi is a fan. If City came out and said Raz was for sale there would be a lot of clubs knocking on our door. He’s in really bad form but he’s still an England international/starter, that has a good goal scoring record throughout his career there would be interest from clubs in Europe.

I think it's 50/50. Mentalities can recover (Stones), however sometimes a new environment & a fresh start is best for all concerned.

My trust is that City have identified Sterling's mental weaknesses & are confident they can be ironed out. City & Sterling resolving his contract situation or him being allowed to leave this summer will tell us all we need to know about the club's position on the player. )(
I think he would be allowed to leave if a suitable offer came in, but who would give him the same money he's on now, there's the problem.
So we will have to let him run down his last year. That's my take on it.

It would a huge risk to let all 3 go and would require at least 2 replacing in a summer where we already have Haaland and Alvarez coming in, plus hopefully a DM and potentially one or two defenders coming in. I don't feel the squad needs that big an overhaul and realistically i can see of the three, Mahrez being the one who stays.

So the papers say.

We have not been known to sell players early just to get a return. We have also not stood in players' ways when they wanted a move, often accepting less than what other clubs would to enable their moves. It will be up to the players themselves.

I can't see Mahrez leaving despite the interest in him.

He seems really happy here, he plays in pretty much all the big games and has been superb the last couple of seasons. He's got another 2-3 years in him yet so I'm hopeful he will extend.

Agree on this. Mahrez and De Bruyne love playing with each other, you can see that on the pitch, they always look for each other. I don't see one leaving while the other is still here.

Given we paid £50m & the Sterling service we've had from him, I suppose we could allow him to leave for free in recognition of this.

However, we're a business not a charity, so a 2 year extension to protect our investment with him still being in the prime of his career would make more sense.

I suppose we'll find out for certain soon enough.

Pep spoke prior to last summer about a need for squad refreshment, which didn’t happen, so it’s probably in order now, especially as we’re probably bound to make changes to how we play, and he’d want a new chapter of his stay, and reasons to extend the contract. Should be exciting

Fully agree. I reckon Sterling will sit tight for another year then leave on a free.

Yes i think we will see probably the biggest shake up to the squad since Peps first couple of years. I'd just be very suprised to see us let 3 wide players leave in one go. I think Jesus is almost certain to leave, Sterling i think is very complicated with wages and his contract situation and Mahrez i feel Pep would be reluctant to let go. 4 or 5 new players in the summer still freshens the squad up considerably.
