It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

I'd be tempted to sell at that price, especially with the likes of Kounde and De Ligt on the market.
De ligt has a 120m buy out clause, non-runner imo. Chelsea offering 45m plus Werner according to reports.

Particularly when we already have to try and keep 3 world class CB's happy fighting for 2 spots so bringing another one in would be more trouble than it's worth, imo of course.

I realise we were short last season towards the end but we experienced a complete freak run of injuries to the entire back line more or less. That isn't happening again

Makes us a bit one dimensional on the wings, Grealish, Mahrez, Palmer are the same type of player. None of them have Sterlings pace in behind that terrifies full backs

I appreciate what you are saying, but I have always maintained Sterling's pace is something of a myth.

In the first two yards, if he stands you up, then it's bye bye...

His advantage is mainly down to his clever runs without the ball.

However, if you are talking pace on the run over a number of yards, he can be caught by a few.

I'd imagine Haaland's true pace, certainly against any high line daft enough to try, will also create space for the lads on the outside.

I believe Grealish is the direct replacement and Phil will get more games on the right.

Bernie staying would almost certainly change some of the thinking, but still being told we have a big iron in the fire.

Here a few we might go for if Sterling goes..

lewandowski
Felix
Neymar
Bowen

Be very surprised if either of those came in when we have Stones, Laporte and Dias already. I think it would be another slightly lower profile defender or perhaps a show of faith for Mbete if required, he has just signed a new contract and been around the first team a while now.

Think the lads on the outside are likely to be the full backs with the wider forwards tucked in. Instead of tucked in full backs.
