It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

Possibly more likely Rodri, with Phillips as DM.

But its all fine doing that in the odd game against Bournemouth, but when it's week in week out it costs you points and you get knocked out of cups.

Would understand possibly keeping Taylor-Bellis as 4th CB, but that doesn't seem likely and Mbete is a couple of years younger, so we couldn't be expecting him to fill in for months if needed. No, it's not how we do things. if Ake goes we'll buy someone (and I don't mean Cucurella, no way we sign a proper left back and play him at centre back, especially when he's 5' 8").

Surely Phillips is more likely to move back given that he has played at CD before

Fair point. I just think we should be thinking ahead with Walker's age being a factor; Cancelo's future lies firmly on the left, for me, and I don't think we should be breaking Stones' rhythm too much by moving him to the right.
But if Laporte and Dias are the starting pair in the centre, then a few extra games at RB for Stones might keep him fresh.

The problem with the first team/alternate formations is that it can make the squad look thin, when it's actually a lot more flexbile, and full of players in those "second choice" spots that will expect to play 2000 minutes. So If KDB is out, McAtee is unlikely to be in. He'd be sixth choice for three midfield spots, and we'd still probably use Foden or Grealish before him.

I think he'll do really well there. Arsenal will definitely improve, but probably not enough to challenge. However they'll be far more capable next year of taking points off of us and Liverpool so could have a huge impact on title race.

Uh...

Yeah?

Swear it wasn't that long ago we were blaming an entire poor season on not having Laporte available, lol.

He's a fantastic CB and we almost certainly wouldn't have won the league without him.
He wasnt fantastic in the cl against madrid last season over the two legs and thats the difference

I hope their linesmans are up to the job

We won’t let go off Zin or Ake without getting a replacement. That’s isn’t how city do business and it won’t change anytime soon I don’t know why everyone panicking. Maybe because of last year when we didn’t go for a striker after Kane deal fell through but that was different, we had three choices either get a mediocre one, overpriced one because everyone knew we were desperate or wait for Haaland and I think we made the right choice there. You all need to put more trust in Pep and the people that have run the club so well for the last few years.

I can see you are new to the forum so i'll cut you some slack.

You cant be coming on here being all reasonable and talking common sense, it just isn't the done thing :)
