Surely Phillips is more likely to move back given that he has played at CD before

But if Laporte and Dias are the starting pair in the centre, then a few extra games at RB for Stones might keep him fresh.

The problem with the first team/alternate formations is that it can make the squad look thin, when it's actually a lot more flexbile, and full of players in those "second choice" spots that will expect to play 2000 minutes. So If KDB is out, McAtee is unlikely to be in. He'd be sixth choice for three midfield spots, and we'd still probably use Foden or Grealish before him.
 
I think he'll do really well there. Arsenal will definitely improve, but probably not enough to challenge. However they'll be far more capable next year of taking points off of us and Liverpool so could have a huge impact on title race.

He's a fantastic CB and we almost certainly wouldn't have won the league without him.

He wasnt fantastic in the cl against madrid last season over the two legs and thats the difference

Sure it’s been said but it’s a fucking huge deal.
Say tolm is told some top notch breaking news that no one has a whiff of. He’s told to keep it secret but then maybe he’ll tell close friends. Who doesn’t?
But then say one of those people passes it on to a very well known journalist and that news is spread, suddenly everyone knows what only a few people should have been privy to. Marketing is fucked, announcements are fucked, the selling club could be fucked if they haven’t got a replacement lined up yet, buying club could risk players being furious about not being told yet, player in question could be annoyed because they’re hounded about it in public.
People lose jobs over leaks. It’s a huge deal.
