It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

€80m is £68m.

Does anyone really think we'd let Bernardo go for less than £68m when he has 3 years left on his contract?

I'd be amazed, and frankly angry, if we accepted less than £100m. They've just spent the best part of £65m on Raphinha FFS.
Agree, it would be so incredibly foolish to let one of the best midfielders in the world, who have 3 years left on his contract, leave for a such ridiculously low fee that I think we can safely assume its just BS put out by Barca trying to save some face during the FDJ situation. They dont wanna be seen as a selling club and are trying to make it look like they are only selling him to upgrade. Expecting some major "stumbling block" coming out later, like "Silvas HUGE salary demands" or something like that from Barca mouthpieces, as the reason to why they won't sign him.

Man. I don't think this is true or even close to true in any way but selling Bernardo Silva for £65m is "someone needs to resign over this" territory. One of the most insane decisions I can think of. Barca are literally about to sell a player not even half as good for more money than that. Player has a 3 year contract left. Zero reason to even entertain double that amount. Top 5 midfielders in the world for fucks sakes

The fact that the prices quoted are so brazenly insane and we're being constantly told that city will be "happy" with that amount baffles me and makes me really want to know what the hell is going on

I hope that majority of funds is still being used to pay more of their debt, leaving not enough funds to pay for Bernardo.
If they dont, theyre making the same mistakes as the previous president only this time its worse because of the hypocracy of blaming the previous administration for financial mismanagement whilst financially mismanaging the club further.

I wouldnt be surprised if they did use all this new cash for transfers but wow will they be making their problems worse in the years to come.

Dont blame bayern for not taking instalments on Lewandowski. Club could be in risk of administration if these transfers are actually pushed through (raphinha, lewandowski etc)

And for me as well. But like it or not, the modern game has many aspects which mean this deal could have legs.

Some things commercially, when they become even remotely feasible are too attractive to not consider.

IF, and its a huge IF he did come to City, he would propel the CFG into a whole new stratosphere. I wouldn't bet against HRH Sheikh Mansour putting added weight behind this one in the ear of Khaldoon and Ferran.
I’d see it more a mutual benefit all round, he’d be playing for a club in the best league in the world, who’ve won 4 outta 5 titles, outperformed his current club in the CL & bought the hottest striker in world football, that’s before you mention what a talented squad we have, as well as one of the great managers, playing some of the greatest attacking football ever seen. You combine that with our facilities & backroom team and we are the place to play football
