It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

As is this attitude of not questioning anything and being happy about everythinL
Okay, popular opinion, not quite mine,is that we failed to win the C/L final wasnt because we didnt have the right player, it was because Pep chose the wrong players. So by that reasoning he was given a good enough squad.

Palmer is yet to break through really, and I doubt he will be heavily involved in PL with Mahrez, Alvarez front of him. if we start to try Foden from the right too (maybe we wont) then thats even more competition. And imo Pep even puts Bernardo for right win in case Mahrez is injured and uses Gundo in the middle rather then just slot Palmer into right wing.

I hope he will play significantly more than last season but I cannot see getting close to 1000 minutes playing time in PL.
Last season he had 1x start and 3x sub cameos, total of 120 minutes or so in PL. if he could do 1000 minutes this season that would be huge jump, but I cannot see that much. probably 400-500 minutes which would be like 4 starts out of 38 and and like 6-7 cameos from bench. (but not the 92nd minute subs but more like 65th min.)
I think this is more or less realistic.

hoope at least in Carabao, FA cup he can be a regular even if we dont draw a lower league team.
I’d say that I see him having his break through season this year. He is more versatile than Mahrez and is imo our best option as the false 9 (if we want to play that in a specific game).

Since Mahrez is very ”hot and cold” I think Palmer will get his chance in a big game this season and hopefully show Pep that he should be first choice at RW.

Are you serious?? do you really think he would still be here if all that he was brought into was win the league??? Show me a quote that says that.
Show a quote that says he was brought in to win the CL… most fans don’t care about the CL, if we win then great but if not ‘meh’ I’ll not lose any sleep. Pep and the club have repeatedly stated the league is much harder to win and means a lot when we do because of that. I’ve never heard them once though mention how important it is to win the CL. The owner wants it sure, but only because it benefits the state sponsors and is a great promo for Abu Dhabi, not because Joe bloggs fan wants it.

The powers that be at the club obviously want the CL, what the fans want means fuck all to them

Why would he not still be here if was brought in to win the league?
For a coach like Pep i am sure he gets other offers and opportunities. He has nothing at all to prove domestically on his record in England, its incredible what he has done but Europe is a different matter and that is why he is still here.

I suspect most City fans put on a brave face when they say they don't care about the CL. My Old Man, my brother, myself, my City supporting mates all care about winning it. There are two big trophies in club football, the domestic league and the European Cup; we've only won one of them. It's an issue, and will rightly be used as a stick to beat us with until we do win it. To be immortalised as a truly great team you need to win the League and CL with the same set of players. I'm sorry if that's an uncomfortable truth for some, but it's a truth nonetheless.

Keeping it on topic, it's far too late in the day for us to be losing Bernardo, much less for what would be a derisory sum. Our policy of letting unhappy players go is only finitely commendable; there are circumstances where it is folly and this is one of those circumstances. Losing Bernie drastically reduces our chances of the big silverware this season.

Do you not think his love for the club and the people he gets to work with every day also plays a huge part?

Lavia vs Southampton. The performance was just amazing
Looked very good. Southampton spent 50m on 6 players and not one of them has a minutes premier league experience. A big gamble.
I was hoping Bazunu and Lavia would only go on loan but we have gone down the road of the "sell with buyback" option.
