It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

I was hoping McAtee was going to be 4th midfielder next season but with Foden and Grealish being able to play there it’s harder. I understand why he wants a loan. He’s ready.

Bernardo said what he wanted, City says “ok find someone that can pay and you can leave, no hard feelings”. That’s how they work. They don’t force anyone.
Something has got to give? Sterlings rightfully looks for his own best interest and likewise do we, don’t think its necessarily forcing him out telling him to pen a new deal or find a club soon. We are still a business, think the board would rather get 50m for him than nothing next year

The Mbappe news has made this summer very very interesting as you have a wounded Madrid with a lot of cash in their pocket

You'd naturally assume they'd be after Salah or Mane now, but there is a chance they'd be after Raz or Mahrez

Either way it's win win, if they buy one of Mane/Salah I struggle to see how the Dippers buy someone as good, even if they get a ludicrous amount of money....but if not then we probably get a lot of money for either one of our guys who we could put to other areas of the squad in more need
The City player most in demand from Madrid fans is that they sign Bernardo from us, now they know they are not getting Mbappe. Bernardo and Tchoumeni are top of most Madridistas.

As said, City don’t force players to do anything major... hence people feel at home there. Not only will City and sterling see how he does with a striker. Sterling also got the WC as a shopping window too. Zero stress from either part imo

I thought he signed the contract because he was told he’d be in and around the first team?
Fair enough but then we are basing this conversation off some gossip and not fact so he may or may not be set to go on loan, just like by next month we will have been interested in signing 90 players lol

well somewhat... Gundogan is going next summer and therein is the chance for him but he needs gametime this season to take that chance. City are filling up the squad this summer which makes his chances less than this summer. A loan for a year is ideal imo

It was only the Swindon game where he was poor, and that was his first appearance at any level for about 5 weeks. Thought he was fine when he played a full half in his preferred position against Sporting.
I think he has looked like a bag of nerves in all but one game he played, which is understandable and not a knock on him, the pressure to perform must be huge and the worry you won't get another chance is even worse.

The lad is obviously a talent so I am not worried, I compared him to Palmer who has looked far better than him in the first team, he has played with no nerves at all, and he has certainly jumped over a couple of lads in the pecking order due to his play in the first team.

He’s not really had the chance. Pep isn’t known for throwing youth players at the number 8 position. He still doesn’t trust Foden to play there, so what chance does McAtee have?

I got the feeling he signed a new contract after he was promised more time in the first team. That hasn’t happened. If he does well on loan next season, he might come back here, but once players are sent out on loan, they don’t tend to come back.
Well, that is because he didn't show much, Palmer came in and showed a lot more and obviously took the extra available games given to the youth players, if Mcatee had come in and scored or assisted he might have had the extra 4 games.

We got shot of players who demanded playing time, do you think we have now switched our stance on the matter?

Zinchenko, so there is some hope.

I am a huge advocate for playing youths, it is all there to see in my post history, I would be happy to see 6 youths play in the League Cup with 5 pro's but Pep seems to like to treat the cups with more respect and a chance for players to get match fitness for other games to come.

It is the one thing that has frustrated me about Pep, his reputation was a man who gave youth a chance, when in reality the only youth he has really given a chance to was the youth players he had under him at Barca B and he brought them in when he got the Barca main job.

I will be interested to see how THB comes back, as for me, he did nothing wrong when given his chance in the first team, it was criminal to keep playing Garcia after he announced his intent to leave.

Palmer isn’t an 8.

Pep strives for perfection from his 8s. Therefore youths will never play there, unless in a crisis or3-0 up with 20 to go.

I never said Palmer was an #8 I said he came in and took his chance, like Zinchenko isn't a left-back, I don't really see your point tbh, if he can't move from an 8 to the wing for a season or two then he will not have a future here after all.

Foden again would be your example, RW, LW, AM, F9 you play where you are given the chance to play and grasp it or don't and be forgotten.

Pep strives for perfection from every player and every position not just the #8

What is Palmer's favoured position, Striker, AM, F9 or Winger

Again I am not spending a day arguing about Mcatee when I already stated he was a great prospect and would love to see more youth given game time.

Pep doesn’t trust young players in the 8 position.

Not sure how else I can spell that out.

You can bleat on about left backs or any other position, but if you are an 8, you aren’t playing for Pep until he trusts you fully.

I have spelled out all the things you need to put it together in your mind.

There is nothing left to say.

Have a great day.

Lol you too. You’ve given your reasoning. It’s incomplete, but enough for you.

If McAtee goes out on loan next season, he’ll never play for us again imho.

If he is good enough he will.If not he will play elsewhere abs who cares if he does .
We are in the position where we want the best available in every position and want to win trophy after trophy .
Unfortunately the competition for places is high not everyone can make it or play

Which is pretty much my viewpoint, but that Pep demands close to perfection from his 8s, whereas he allows the wingers more scope for dribbling and losing the ball.
