the lack of ability to discuss grealish in any degree of earnestness on this forum is so depressing. we are so defensive about opposition fans that we have just completely locked ourselves from the ability to hear any criticism of the lad's performances the past season

Come on mate, there’s a big difference between sticking in CM’s and LW’s in at LB and a 6ft4 centre-mid with very good defensive stats playing DM.

apologies i though you posted the above which made me look. KP wins all defensive stats and the passing ones as well. SMS has height and attacking creation over him and thats about it.

What is the debate? Phillips is a DM...SMS is an AM...we're looking for a DM, fine...but please stop trying to say Phillips is a better footballer than SMS...I would argue he is easily one of the top 10 AMs in Europe, maybe top 5...

Is putting SMS in a position that isn't what he naturally does currently in a brand new league, in a brand new system under one of the most demanding managers in world football really worth it over signing a player like Phillips who both fits the system perfectly and whose floor is a good premier league player? It would be insane.

We have so much of the ball he’d rarely be playing as a proper DM anyway.

I’d say say 5 seasons being one of the best midfielders in Serie A and fighting for top 4 is more impressive than 2 good seasons for a bottom half prem team.

And if Phillips is a Fernandinho replacement, this is someone with less than 1000 minutes. SMS could easily fill in for Kev, Rodri, Gundogan, Bernardo etc. This is going to be the most congested Prem season I can think of, it’s not going to be just a DM we need.

It is more impressive. It still doesn't change the fact we're not looking for a player in his position unless we lose one. Palmer, McAtee, Bernardo, Foden, Grealish, Gundogan and KDB are who we have that plays, or can cover, in that midfield spot. We're clearly looking for the Fernandinho type to play CDM. If Gundo or Bernardo leaves then by all means I'm glad we have some folks excited about SMS.

i'd be worried about signing a player called Savic, after a year of being shit they leave, sign for athletico madrid and turn into a **** that thinks they're a hardman

with regards to this Savic (Sergej Milinković-Savić), he has been linked with english clubs for years and years but no one has taken a punt on him which makes me wonder why ?
