It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

I don’t know why anyone is baulking at the £35m. The player doesn’t want to be here, we don’t want him, he’s ok £300k a week minimum, Chelsea don’t really need him.

It’s totally different to Jesus and no different to Mane.

It’s a good deal all round. We get £35m cash, save £15m wages for his final year. We get back what we paid for him and he has been a magnificent servant for us.

We got value for what we paid and we are getting value for his sale whilst already having his replacement here.

Di Marzio isn’t particularly reliable these days. Chelsea haven’t even contacted City so not sure where they’re getting their confidence from.

A lot of games being played this summer. They’ve been balls deep for Dembele on a free for a while. He has to take a pay cut to stay at Barca. Suspect a lot of what we’re seeing are people negotiating contracts whilst trying to put pressure on the deals.

Chelsea in reality might be the only club in for Sterling. Do you take what you can get now or keep an unhappy player around for a year and let him walk for free?

It's about the optics of it though. If we keep accepting piss taking bids for our players then that is all we will ever get. We should stand firm on £50 million for Gabby no matter how desperate he is to leave and equally we should only sell Sterling if an appropriate bid comes in.

I'd rather the players walk for free than clubs taking the piss out of us and offering fees you'd struggle to sign a decent Championship player with.

Yet you lot seem to think that’s what Phillips is worth!

we have talked here before potential replacement for Raz before

Realistically who would that be - Felix or the Milan kid Leao ?

Both would be close to 80-100 Euros

No way we should or would sell for £35m. It wouldn't surprise me too much if that move happens, but come on, £35m is just a bullshit figure that DiMarzio has plucked.

Sterling is a consistent (yearly) PL performer, 27 and with over 100 PL goals.

That's fair. I agree the first thing that came to mind when I saw the fee was that it was about 10M short of what I expected.

Lots of assumptions there.

I think we will sell around 35-45 with add ons. Take the money from him and Jesus and reinvest this summer. Bearing in mind he only has a year left.

Within the next year think we will need a new LW and RW anyway as Mahrez will be off next season.

I mean, if the player and club are okay with his departure and £35m is the best offer we can get then maybe we'd prefer the money to a lesser offer from somewhere else.

I just want a right footed right winger with some pace to give us another option to Mahrez or potentially Cole Palmer. Maybe the money could be put towards a replacement or another top quality player?

Prefer him to stay, certainly prefer him not to go to a league rival, but maybe the club needs/ wants the money.
