I'm listening...Has the club ever benched a player to send a message? There are numerous solid reasons why that is a god awful idea.

Yet you lot seem to think that’s what Phillips is worth!
Who have we sold low?...I'm just asking...My point is we have more previous for selling low than not, that's a fact not a dig.
So does possibly selling Sterling, with a year left, potentially down the pecking order, for less than his true value would be surprise me? No. If he wants out the club facilitate that at their behest not the bottom lines.
Hardly a dig, again.
You can't really argue that other than trying to prove you're a bigger blue or something by nitpicking.
I'm listening...
That's better.
Nkunku would work if we took the Sterling and Gabby money and used it...We ain’t getting Leao out of Milan. They’re on the cusp of an amazing buy-out and about to build on a position of strength. Milan don’t seem like the previous load of crap for the past decade but a seemingly somewhat seriously well run club, about to become very rich. Leao has shown absolutely zero indication to leave.
Only hope of a replacement would be Gnabry, and that seems unlikely.
so what are the options if Raz leaves?
Leao - not cheap and can't really play on the right
Gnabry - interesting option but is he good enough?
Diaby - not sure if good enough
Antony - maybe united bound?
Saka - downgrade
Raphinha
Nkunku - can he really play on the wing?
Anyone who doesn't plan on leaving us high and dry when the opportunity presents itself, that's who the fuck...And if that's the mentality of the player in question you can have him, not for me...The most obvious one I can think of is:
Who the fuck in their right mind would want to play for a club who benches their players for a season simply to "send a message"?
Anyone who doesn't plan on leaving us high and dry when the opportunity presents itself, that's who the fuck...And if that's the mentality of the player in question you can have him, not for me...
Agreed. These two players have other qualities but no denying the fact that the are our worst finishers. If both Sterling and Jesus leave we'll have replaced our two biggest wasters of chances with two absolute killers in front of goal. Of course theres much more to both Jesus and Sterling than the chances they've missed and they've both been great servants to the club, but part of me would be happy to not have to worry about a Lyon miss happening again.

I understand the bigger picture in that we are a club who don't stand in the way of players wanting to leave in light of a fair proposal...we are also a club who treat their players amazingly with every amenity possible...not to mention what we offer in terms of success on the pitch...if Sterling is unhappy with the proposed wages or his playing time he can leave now allowing us to get some form of compensation while getting the playing time and money he wants straight away...why stay another year?...to leave on a free and pocket the money his new club saves in transfer fees?...to send us a fuck you very much message?...what is his point exactly?...that he holds all the cards?...You're quite obviously missing the bigger picture.
Thankfully, the club don't.
People are talking about leao, but leao is a left winger. Though under pep, he can convert a lw to rw but still it's tough.so what are the options if Raz leaves?
