I just want Cucurella and a winger

I'm not a believer in needing the biggest squad, you see how us, Liverpool, Arsenal and West ham have seen it work with smaller squads while United and Chelsea have struggled as they can never work out their best XI

I'm also a huge believer in our youth, and Palmer has to be knocking on the door for real game time and McAtee/Mbete can't be too far off

We have versatile players yes but there is no need for us to be going into a season like this thinking about which midfielders could perhaps play as a defender for a bit.

At what point do numbers outweigh quality? We would be going into every match fearing one injury in a season crammed with games. How many times did Pep complain we only had 14.5 fit players last season and it cost us in the end and that was in a season when we went out of the FA Cup early and had a good injury record. If we don’t replace the squad is even smaller. It would be “a madness“ as City Xtra says.

I can only think we will replace or refuse any additional departures.

Was just about to post something similar. I don't think there's any chance we will leave ourselves worse off in terms of squad depth/numbers than we had last season. Can see Zinchenko and Ake staying, but if not we will surely replace them.
 
We've come a long way; we're no longer putting our faith in a stuffed toy. If we end up with having a complete overhaul this summer, to my mind it's because there is a change in system is coming. In Pep we trust.

The other thing to bear in mind is how long players take to learn Pep’s system. At least Zin and Ake know what they are doing.

But that’s better than nothing at all!

Do we think some of the youngster are good enough to actually compete for a place now? Thinking Mbete and Palmer mostly.

Could you do a job for us? A player of your stature? Quite a few strikers have made the transition to centre back later in their career.

That just highlights the lack of numbers, doesn't need many injuries to that squad to leave us short.

Personally reckon that if Pep decided to start Palmer regularly from the beginning of the season he'd probably end up going to the world cup. I really, really rate him. Obviously Pep won't start him week in, week out, but I do think he'll be used.

Are you not concerned about the similarities of profiles we have on the flanks? They're all brilliant players but having someone pacy and direct was always a plus.
