Cancelo? He’s not a left back lol.

He’s not a left back, but he’s played there and been better then pretty much most left backs in Europe the last season.

He will 100% be our first choice at left back even if we buy someone else

Walkers not getting dropped at right back either

So 32 year old Walker and Cancelo (who’s pretty inconsistent) will be playing over 50 games each (providing they dont get injured) plus starting for their country in the World Cup? Interesting

That's not the way it works. He'll be the first choice left back if he plays well enough to be. If someone else comes in and plays better they'll take his spot. That's true of everyone in the team and why we need options, so everyone has to keep working and push themselves to improve.

It's clear Pep has asked for a LB as he did with a striker - and Kane - last summer. The only question is whether Cucurella was the only one he felt was worth pursuing. If that's true we'll be going without until another option is available. But hopefully other options are on the table. Cucurella fits our mould in terms of his footballing education in Barcelona and playing under Graham Potter who has a similar philosophy.

Fully expect the club to not bring anyone else in and hope Pep can work miracles plugging a gaping whole in the squad again.

Wait till they sell Bernardo to Barca. And then get a replacement that isn't half as good. But look on the positive side, at least we'll win the net spend trophy. :)

Asked someone I know about Sosa same guy I asked who gave me a report on Gvardiol. Since I watch bundesliga but don't know that much about Sosa in depth. So I'll put it here.

Basically said he's just decent not world class, not shit just decent incredible cross but just a decent/good player, can defend and attack. Mostly a 7/10 most games. Good player not exceptional can do a job. Just really consistent. Rarely has a shit performance. Just does his job to a good level. Rarely at fault for his team conceding

He is a better left back though,so that leaves him and us a bit fucked.
He was bought as a right back though and that's where he plays for Portugal.

I don't think it was a problem when we were playing with a false 9 because our play was all about making the right pass at the right time.
It didn't really matter that we slowed the play down to let him and Mahrez cut inside or cut back to make a pass with their natural foot because we didn't really need too much pace on the wings.

Now with Haaland we're going to need to be quicker with our passes to release him or use our pace to cross the ball into the area without slowing the play down to use their natural feet.

If we get a left footed left back it wouldnt surprise me to see Cancelo move to the right as he's a better option going forward.

Sounds good to me.

The main reason Juventus moved on from him was mainly because of his inconsistent nature.

Credit to him for at one point becoming recognized as a top back in the world but in reality he's not. He is 100% overrated, I agree, and another player who benefits greatly playing with the players he's surrounded by at City. He's had his moments of brilliance over the past two years and he's also been abysmal at times.

There's a time to go for it and a time to keep it simple. He never keeps it simple. By always going for the spectacular he fucks up quite a bit. Add in the fact that he's a poor defender and worse, an unwilling defender, and to me he has no business being a FB. He would be more suited playing in a role further up the field.

If you want to see a true world class attacking FB over an extended period of years at both club and country take some time to go back and watch Jordi Alba play. If Cucurella can be 80% the player Alba was over his career we'd be getting a great fit for maybe the next 7 to 10 years. JMO.

That right back for Germany last night was pretty good ......

Yea. They have been doing that for the last couple of years. How has Cancelo been inconsistent?

Walker being 32 is an irrelevant point. He could easily play at the same level for a number of years.

Those two will start most of our games if fit.

What happens when they both get injured?

You have to be in utter denial to make light of this situation. Would be a shocking window if we do not get a left back after all 3 other seniors we've lost.
