Just like the Kane situation he starts off by saying other players can play there and only then says there is time left in the market.

I don't think we're bringing anyone in. I think it was Cucurella or nothing.

Our squad is getting stretched than ever before this season.
 
Pep being a bit cagey .. but if you took what he said at face value.. you’d have to take from that we’re nowhere near getting a left back and there’s a real possibility Bernardo could leave

Which isn’t what I wanted to hear this morning!!

Yep I think we will be making some January signings for sue to make the numbers up

Totally agree unless we make another couple of signings.
Given what occured at the end of last season where we literally ran out of defenders - and it nearly cost us the title I find our transfer window mind boggling if I am honest.
 
We have extended both Rodri's and Phil's contract and with Pep's extension still to come. It has been mostly a good transfer window for us.
 
Our squad is way to thin to compete in all 4 competitions. Hopefully we throw any carabao cup and fa cup challenge away and concentrate on the league and champions league.

Isnt our squad the same? 3 out / 3 in?

positionally were short at full back but we lost 2 forwards and a mid/fb and brought in 2 forwards and a mid.

edit : dinho gone too so maybe 1 down

I hate this throwing of competitions notion if I am honest. It's an insult to supporters
 
Any club, us included, has to aim to do the best they can with the team they have.

If we have less players in some positions then that's just that.

As long as we set appropriate expectations then we plough on.

I can't see how (with the current squad) those expectations aren't still to win all 3 domestic competitions plus a decent run at the CL.

I cannot speak on behalf of other blues, but for me despite the fact I loved Zinchenko for the way he fought tooth and nail to have a career here I am not disappointed that he has left for his ability as left back but because as a club it doesn’t look like we have planned well and have left us short at the back.

Last season we lost Walker for a decent chunk of the run in so Zinchenko started most of these towards the end. If this happens again this season we will be relying on a young full back who I like but we need to give game time to and he needs to get minutes against lesser opponents or in less important games like the community shield. Generally pep doesn’t do that with youngsters though so an injury to Cancelo or Walker in a big game will be stones or Ake at full back which is less dynamic for us. Christ even Fernandinho had to play at full back in the champions league semi final last season and that was when we had 3 fullbacks in the squad!!
