It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

Finding the club is the main issue. Bernardo wants Barcelona and they do not have the finances for it. I’m convinced the Saudi and PSG rumours are pushed by Mendes, because that is his top client. Might just be me, but I think not only does Bernardo end up staying but also signs a new deal on big money.
So the smart money he stays until he is out of contract and then he will get his "dream move" to Barcelona. If his wife is that unhappy then move her to Barcelona.

I’d assume the club will have known this for a while and drawn up replacements too. Considering how well run we are.

I can’t imagine we’ve been caught unawares with our pants round our ankles.

Could be an exciting window after all. That many faces going demands some sort of response from the club, it’s a small squad as it is so it’ll need to be replenished.

I think Laporte and Cancelo were absolutes, but I get the feeling there was hope Gundogan could be convinced to stay.

Bernardo was always going to be a case of if the correct bids come in he will go, but even then, there was not any certainty.

The two that have thrown the window in the air for us are Mahrez and Walker.

I don't think the club anticipated Walker potentially leaving, not least for Bayern Munich, and had Saudi not decided to try and hoover up all of Europe, I think we can categorically say Mahrez would be a City player next season.

Those two looked to have changed the game for us and we are now looking at a situation where replacing a few turns into a potentially huge rebuild that will inevitably weaken us for the forthcoming season, as I just don't see enough quality in the market available to get us back in shape again.

The treble squad was already on a little on thin side and needed an addition or two, we now look like letting go of 5 key players from last season and all of a sudden the rest of the league must be looking at us and thinking there could be a chance to break our PL winning run.

So the smart money he stays until he is out of contract and then he will get his "dream move" to Barcelona. If his wife is that un-happy then move her to Barcelona.
I hope common sense prevails and he sees how much he’s valued here and the fact that his beloved future club cannot make any sacrifices to bring him in. They had the opportunity last summer and could not do it. This year the convincing from Pep is to a much lesser extent. Also the fact that Mahrez is going he can more or less make that position his.

I understand that mate, thought it might be the case.

Most players stopped in the street will always give the answer others want to hear.

Doesn't mean he was lying, and I so hope it's true.

He wants to leave, but is there anything left out there for him.

You also have to remember, City won't went him running down his contract much further and he's stalled on our new terms for 18 months.
I met Richard Edghill in the Failsworth carpark in February 1996 and he told me were definitely staying up. It seems he was paying lip service to an 11 year old lad. Who still got an autograph on a beer mat.

General tip as to using an adult mind.

You don't think a thing is coming your way. No way mate! Never coming our way. Uh oh. Suddenly it looks almost on top of you. You either Flap. Or choose blind faith.

Better to see from a mile off and play out the scenarios if it does or doesn't come. You will have mini flaps, mini bits of faith. Ahead of it coming true, or not.

Either way, no big flap.

There's no big flap here. When you don't need to flap or have blind faith overwhelm the moment, you'll remember what's in play.

All that's happened is a lot of stuff is becoming final. Bear in mind, where possible, you sales before you do purchases.

What does seem clear to me is that both Bayern and Real are talking about selling desirable midfielders, and both might as well be waiting for us to buy one, so they can do the real work. Then Real buy Mbappe. That frees PSG to come get Bernie. But we still hold Bernie's contract - there's no guarantee we will sell. Bayern also have too many wingers.

Honestly. I think our position is great. Vlahovic, Lukaku, Kane, Mbappe. Bayern, PSG, Real, Juve, Inter, Chelsea. We sort of have quite an influence over all that. And are under little pressure to rush.

This is especially true of Real, who beat us to Bellingham, but left themselves overstocked in MF, and could end the window without a half-decent striker.

So you're saying a squad containing Ederson, Ortega, Akanji, Dias, Ake, Stones, Rodri, De Bruyne, Kovacic, Lewis, Phillips, Grealish, Foden, Alvarez, Haaland + inevitable new signings + our academy talent wouldn't finish top 4?

Deary me.

Only problem with that is that's a injury prone squad. It would still finish top 4 but most the squad do have injury issues / fitness issues.

Ake (gets injuries throughout the season)
KDB (already injured)
Stones (doesn't stay fit for a whole season he's injury prone)
Kovacic ( loads of niggles and injuries last season)
Phillips (injury prone)
Foden (couple of injuries last season has had injuries before gets knocks throughout the seasons)

That's 6 players who could be vital and some are vital with injury / fitness problems, kevin picking up more knocks and injuries as well

On paper it's still a brilliant squad without replacements but in reality most of them are not going to be fit all season. The big upside to Mahrez , Bernardo and walker is they are rarely Injured, Walker only recently gets injuries. Akanji was brought in due to how injury prone Stones and Ake are. Plus with the amount of competitions we are in this year that could be a problem.
