It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

It absolutely does matter. Not the 3 games specifically, but the 3-4 weeks on the training pitch is the only time all year we will get that amount of time for pep to really instill his ideas into players before it becomes about maintaining fitness over anything.

We've seen instances of players missing that peruod and taking much longer to adapt. Phillips last season missed all pre-season and the start of the season and by time he got fit we were too swamped with games for him to get upto speed. Similarly when we signed ake, he got a lengthy injury almost instantly and barely featured all season.

We typically like to do most of our business early, it's far from ideal if we were to lose 3/4 first teamers from now until thr close of the window and have to replace them in august.
Only a guess but think the players we lose are Gundogan, Mahrez, Laporte , Cancelo, maybe Walker.
Gundogan we already have Kovacic in the squad
Laporte and Cancelo probably replaced by Gvardiol, if Ake starts the season thats okay and suspect Gvardiol will be up to speed fairly quick
Mahrez I think we replace with a younger winger that we can wait to bed in as Bernardo and Foden playing wide right
Walker is the one that’s tricky and we could do with a replacement getting to know the position. Though Stones and Akanji can play there, there are games we’d need a proper RB that understands the system.Maybe why Peps keen for him to stay.Hopefully he will.

Foot off the gas as weve reached the pinnacle
No, we have to cement ourselves. The Guardiola era has to cement itself as the most feared EPL team in history for decades to come. We have to make history and break more records, win more EPL and and more Champions league trophies. There is no pinnacle, only new heights above the ones we have reached. Our next high is winning 3 champions league trophies in a row. The first English team to ever do it. We never die on this hill, we reach for a new one and we conquer it.

I still refuse to believe that those running this club would be so complacent. Having won the Treble there’s no way they won’t want to go for it again. We won’t get anywhere near that without replacing any first team players who leave. When you look how well we’re run, and how demanding Pep is, there’s no way we won’t be looking for options to bring in that can improve us.

No way we sit on our arse letting rivals strengthen, it’s just harder to find players that may be available that are good enough for us so it’ll take time. A few weeks left of the transfer window yet.
