It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

McAtee started 27 games in all comps for SUFC (league, FA & League cups) and was subbed in another 16 times (league only) for a team that was chasing and won promotion to the PL (the holy grail). I'd say that was an extremely successful loan for a lad playing his first professional season in the mens game and shows the trust they had in a young lad. 9 goals & 4 assists BTW.
Depends on what your expectations are.
I would consider an "extremely successful" loan spell for one of the most talented youth players in the country as more or less starting every game in the Championship (when fit) and being considered as one of the best players in the league. Something like what Harwood-Bellis (born the same year as Palmer and McAtee) did, who was considered as one of the best defenders in the Championship, being nailed on to start every game (when fit) in the best team and best defense in the league.
For me, if anyone had told me last summer that McAtee would only get to start half the Championship games with Sheffield United, and end up being cut from the England u21 Euros squad after the season, I would rather have seen him go on loan to another club where he could have a more important role than thought of it as an "extremely successful" loan spell. But thats just because McAtee is a big talent I have big expectations from. Just like if Palmer would get loaned out to say Burnley this coming season and only start like 15 games, I would certainly not consider that as an "extremely" successful loan either. I still have high hopes of that McAtee could have a future in our club, he is a big talent who I really think can make it here. I just think that an "extremely successful" loan spell for a talent as big as him would be being one of the best players in Sheffield United and in the Championship, not being a squad player there. But like I said, it depends on what your expectations are.

You're a hard man.

I don't think Mahrez will be replaced and I'm ok with that. We need to create space for Foden to be in this team consistently - having one less in the forward positions gives us that option. We also have a bunch of talented kids that need to be getting onto the bench and then into games.

I believe in his ability to coach and improve the players and we need to be patient I think.

My biggest worry is we start next season with the complacency we showed at the beginning of last. This is always the big test of successful teams especially in a competitive league

I think our lack of options from the bench next season could be a problem, especially in attacking positions. I can only think of Alvarez who we might be able to call upon to try and change a game if we're behind. Palmer, Mcatee too raw to be expected to change things greatly

I agree with your overall point, on the miney side.

I keep seeing people claiming we missed out on Bellingham, he was our top target etc.

At no point were we ever linked with Bellingham, anywhere. Other than wishful thinking and excitement on here, not seen anything to suggest we were ever seriously after him as a target.
I'm not sure we ever put a bid in for Rice as well
