True, obviously depends on our budget and how many players we want. That’s what I meant by if we can afford. For me the price is about affordability, which only the club knows and can decide. If they are happy to spend whatever so am I. I have complete trust in those in charge of our finances.
Going off recent events I'd say we need a other 2 or 3 after Guimares and that 34 million quid could come in handy!

Tbf the club didn't pay his 100 million release clause in the summer, but that was pre rodri injury and pre the possibility that we might not make the champions league spots. I still think he'd be pretty steep at 100 mill though

I agree, with all that. My only point is only the club know whether we can afford £100 mill and still get any others we need over the next year ,or whether we need to set a maximum of £60 milll on that position to leave enough for other targets. Non of us can know that, so for me I don’t need an opinion on how much because I don’t have the information.

Guimaraes would be a decent option for a box to box who can occasionally play 6. Gundogan and Kovacic have been signed for the role but neither is fully capable as a 6. Gundogan isn’t physically up to the role and Kovacic isn’t good enough defensively and can’t stay fit.

We’re desperately short of muscle on midfield, Gundogan and Lewis were easily dispossessed yesterday. Bernardo isn’t much help in that regard. We’re can’t afford to be that soft in the middle.
Guimaraes has plenty of experience as a 6. He is press resistant, uses the ball really well and is positionally sound - he’s also prepared to get stuck in/resort to shithousery when required.

I think he’d be perfect, as he is good enough to play anywhere in our midfield, as well providing proper cover for Rodri.

I was hoping we’d sign him last summer, I’m praying we sign him in January. £66M would be a steal - considerably more would still be a bargain given what he would bring to us.

Watching Chelsea today what’s annoying more than the recent shite signings we’ve made is the quality of some of the players we’ve let go. We have folk on here say it’s impossible to sign players from club x as they won’t leave or won’t be allowed to leave. If we aspire to be one of the world’s biggest clubs why are we letting good young players leave to strengthen our rivals? Lavia and Palmer instantly make us better and we had both.
Lavia and Palmer make us better for the past 4 weeks out of the last 4 seasons - and then they would be back on the bench when everyone is fit

Some people will never shut up about it. They are so thick that they do not realise that players need first team football to progress. First team football we cannot give them because of the standard we are at at that time. Brahim Diaz, Jadon Sancho, Aleix Garcia, Cole Palmer, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Felix and Lukas Nmecha, Jack Harrison, Romeo Lavia, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Pablo Maffeo, Pedro Porro, ............the list goes on. Some have to be sold, they the generate income required to finance the Haaland's, De Bruyne's, Bernardo's etc and the next generation of academy products.

Disagree. Suggesting Palmer wouldn’t start week in week out is just being obtuse. The lads class. We’ve slipped up there some how and we have to hold our hands up. Lavia looks class as well he did at Saints.

Tbf Palmer is the best on that list by a country mile. If someone failed to see his talent/potential isn’t that an issue in itself?

We need to bring in one player minimum in January. And it should be getting sorted now and the player signs at the start of the window not right at the end.

He wouldn’t start when everyone is fit , he would be rotated like everyone else is , just remind me how he performed in games against Liverpool, City , United and Arsenal this year …. He was ok in some , he was anonymous in some , this idea he is some kind of world beater is way off the mark

Do you remember the season before we sold him? I bet you don't because he was injured for most of it. He was contributing fuck all whilst we won one or two trophies. Who should we have left out that season to suck up to him and give him centre stage to indulge his lack of defensive qualities? Rodri? Foden? De Bruyne? Bernardo? Gundogan? Alvarez? Haaland? Mahrez? Your shout mate.

I wouldn't have sold Lavia, Harwood-Bellis, Diaz, Palmer or Maffeo. However, these players want to play. We couldn't provide that at that time so we let them go, got good money, reinvested in the next off the production line and continued winning trophies. We keep the cream.....ie Foden.
Do you not see it or are you just still pissed off that Palmer is doing well. He wanted to go, let it rest.
Are you going to moan about Tommy Doyle going in a couple of years time when he has matured? Or James Trafford? Or Morgan Rogers? Or Micah Hamilton? I could go on but maybe you'll read this and shut the fuck up with your whingeing.

The players we have are on their knees. Totally knackered and due to players totally unfit to play are having to play with injuries. A minimum of two players are required in January as Pep doesn't feel that the academy lads (Wright, O'Reilly and Simpson-Pusey) are truly good enough at the moment. Probably can include McAtee in that as, despite two seasons of first team football with Sheffield United, he obviously sees something not right with him.
