It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

One thing we could do to certainly placate the masses would be to get the Doku deal boxed off asap, even if that means paying slightly more than we wanted.

Would certainly take an element of pressure off finding the midfielder as having a new winger would free up others to play more centrally if required.
If the masses need placating then the masses should fuck off and support Utd or Chelsea.

City are reigning PL, FA Cup, European Cup & European Super Cup champions, so the masses can 'suck it' if all they're interested in is shiny new toys.

That said, a new CM & RW would be nice. : )

But Ric waiting to see who we get just 12 days before the transfer deadline and two weeks into the season is a bit complacent and not something I associate with my club.

Winning a treble is once a generation or a century thing and a watershed moment for us. We could have gone full throttle replacing our aging players like we did in the second season of Pep.That was cut-throat & efficient and started a domestic legacy whose fruits we are still bearing till now.

In my honest opinion there is a chance to start a European legacy and I assumed Bellingham would be the star of that era along with Haaland. Transfer market is difficult and I wouldn't cast aspersions on a group that delivered us the lot but going to West Ham twice knowing their owner is kind of a time wasting naive move.

Your overall point is entirely fair. However, with pretty much everyone complaining about losing Gundogan and Mahrez (our two oldest players) and delighted at keeping Walker (the next oldest player), suggesting we should be 'going full throttle and replacing our ageing players' seems to be a bit at odds with the overall stance and situation.

I think the club Have tried to really improve the team, with real top quality. Explored the options for Bellingham, Rice and Paqueta (deals weren't there to be made for 3 very different reasons), while signing the most promising young defender for a fee everyone here apart from maybe waspish would have found unbelievable. And adding a quality experienced low key underrated player Pep has tried to sign on at least 3 occasions. The reality is, there just isn't that much obvious quality in the market. And what little there is, costs a fortune. The club have been patient before and it has paid off, so I'm ok with it again.

Wirtz
Olmo
Doku
Fati (loan swap with Cancelo)
Cherki
Eze

hopefully we look at a couple of these type players who benefit us now but young enough to improve and fight the stay in the starting 11 for the future.

I know our current system does not have place for attacking full back or wing back.

But I still think that a overlapping left fullback will unlock Grealish potential and a right fullback will help Bernado (same if Foden on RW). Walker is no longer in his 20s. Since we are short of attacking players can we get one or two wing back and play something more like 3-4-3 at times? Surely it is much easier and cheaper to find some wingbacks than a good midfielder.

Just some random ideas.

The very definition of little city syndrome.
Far from it, I just appreciate where we have come from and where we stand now.

We have no defined right to win titles every season.

I just dislike the entitlement and the way some on here just expect every player in the world wants to join us.

I trust Txiki and Co to bring in the right players at the right time.

But you’d be happy if we kept on winning surely.
