It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

I’m quite sure the idea was that Nunes and Kovacic would, when played together, serve as an adequate replacement, yet that combination fell to pieces at Molineux, and thankfully hasn’t been revisited. Our 4 defeats this season were all when we were sans Rodri, so just imagine the effect of him missing ten games. Depending on how the next three weeks go, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we saw midfield churn this summer.
Yup, we padded out the squad this summer instead of improving its gene pool as we'd normally do, & we've suffered because of it.

We've essentially permanently lost Mahrez & Gundog, & been without KDB, Stones & Haaland for extended periods. When you factor in Grealish's loss of form, physicality & injury woes, that's half our treble winning starting eleven right there.

Doku's a raw 21 year old in his first season in a new league & country. Kovacic has been useful in bolstering the squad, but Nunes, Philips & Gomez have taken up squad places whilst offering very little between them.

We need to be ruthless in clearing out the deadwood to give us squad space & wages headroom, for summer acquisitions who are immediate starters.

It's shit or get off the pot time for us where Gomez is concerned. Philips is done at the Etihad, & I believe our panic buying of Nunes was a mistake, so there's three to go for starters.

With a decision to be made regarding Cancelo, & growing rumours of Bernardo leaving (AGAIN), plus rumours of concrete Saudi interest in Walker & KDB, that's essentially seven players who in theory could potentially depart.

I honestly believe that Pep & Txiki will pull up trees to restore our squad to what it should've been after our treble winning season. We've seen how quickly top teams can slump from challengers to also rans within a couple of seasons, & if we don't urgently address our deficiencies, it'll get harder & harder to rebuild a Championship challenging squad the longer we leave it.

Philips was supposed to be our new Fernandinho, to compete, rest & rotate with Rodders. With him declining sale & loan offers last summer, it fucked us going for a full blown replacement to aid Rodri.

After this season's struggles, I've a feeling this summer will be big in terms of outgoings & incomings. Our first priority must be to protect Rodri, who most don't rate as our best player, but to me he's our best & most important player by a country mile.

The shattered look on his face last night sent shudders down my spine.
If this big news is Pep renewing his contract I think we will blow everyone out of the market this summer.

We have unsurprisingly looked jaded this season and have too many old legs in vital positions, we need to make big moves and I am sure we will.

If true about release clauses (Tkixi special)

Frimpong 35m
Paqueta 85m
Bruno G 100m

I can only see us signing Frimpong & Paqueta if players leave. Bruno well we need to replace Phillips.

Well if the £200m sales is true this summer then we can bring them 3 in for a net cost of £20m ? And instantly be a lot stronger?

Wasn't the big news the release of this picture?

In regards to Pep's future, I can't see where he goes after City. His two best mates run the club, & he has the 100% support of the Chairman & owner, plus the fans adore him & his slaphead.

He's a man of principle, hence the continued 2 year renewals which keeps him, the club & the squad on their toes, & guards against the complacency of City giving him an 8 year deal.

He gets what he wants within the constraints we have to work within, & his Pep-Ball footballing philosophy is now the City Football Group philosophy.

He's in his mid-50s, & is operating in the toughest & richest league in the world where he has to prove himself against the world's best every season.

Also, don't underestimate the pull of the City vs The Premier League mentality that we've grown, as they try to kill us off-field, having failed to stop us on-field.

Pep has broken record after record on the pitch where it matters, yet the PL & the Red Top Mafia & Spuds have tried to taint our success by labelling us FFP/PSR cheats... The very FFP/PSR they introduced to stop us, but which has now unintentionally started to hit other clubs, & threatens the future viability of the Premier League.

As things stand, FFP/PSR now suits & protects Manchester City, hence the Cartel Clubs coming after us with their bullshit historic breaches.

Pep is 100% Manchester City & he evidently wants to extend his record here further. I believe that'll start in earnest this summer by putting right the transfer errors & missed targets of last summer.

If there was ever a time for a clear out, & to create the next iteration of Pep's Manchester City, it starts from now & runs throughout this summer's transfer window.

I just hope we have the necessary squad clearout, & go as big as needed to keep our squad at the level of quality that Pep needs & deserves. I'm pretty confident if our targets are available & willing, that we will.

Some wishful thinking:

Bernardo 50m (RC)
Walker 40m (per Tolmie)
Cancelo 35m (Bayern or Saudi)
Kalvin 25m
Couto 25m
Ortega 20m
Harwood-Bellis 20m
Sergio Gomez 15m
C. Doyle 15m
T.Doyle 5m (option to buy)
Kabore 5m?

That`s roughly 250m, and doesn`t include possible sales of McAtee, Perrone, Delap, Katongo, JWE, Alex Robertson etc. who have done fairly well on loan, but would probably benefit from another loan
Perrone will be loaned out to Girona most likely, Katongo also will be loaned again. everybody else you mentioned probably will be sold
