You claim Alvarez is in top 25 of strikers; on Transfermarkt he is listed as no. 6. You are doing him an injustice there.

Do you remember when Pep played with a false 9? Just a different type of forward to Haaland and doesn’t harm the team.

As a pure striker here are players I'd have over him

Lewandoski
Dovbyk

Guirrasy
Watkins
Sorloth

As a pure striker, I'd take those 9 over him.

There is another perhaps 4-5 players who are not pure strikers but forwards like him whom I view as better than him as players and strikers.

Lauraro Martinez

Then there is another 5-10 I view as possibly on his level. Some he is better than as a player but they strike me as better strikers and others I just don't rate him above them as overall players. I see them as similar.

Now, I'm sure many would rate him a better striker than some of these guys, and others will have other players they rate as better strikers (players like Toney, Solanke and Nunez) who I didn't add or particularly rate as better but could be.

This is why I say he is a top 25 'striker'. Because I know he is somewhere in there. Not saying he is 25th or 18th. Just saying I am absolutely confident he is in the top 25. But I am equally confident he isn't in the top 10.

I don't understand how any rating site can rate him as the 6yh best striker in the world. What was their metric?
