If Eze wasn't English I doubt you'd rate him this highly. I get he had an exciting appearance for the national team last weekend but calling him a bargain when he'd cost 68m is just silly.

Fine player, but not really one we need. Grealish had superior numbers at Villa when we bought him and it's safe to say he's struggled to perform to our standard 2 out of 3 seasons (I still rate the lad though). Would prefer we spend the money elsewhere.

I’m not English so I couldn't care less about that aspect (other than the obvious benefit of having English players to meet quota).

And I agree that 68m isn’t a bargain. Thought I seen his buyout was in 60m region. Didn’t we offer a lot more last season or was that a rumour?

Regardless, he’s a special player and that fee can be considered a good price. He would cost more if not for the buy out, and by definition, that’s a bargain lol.

And would I prefer we spent the money elsewhere? Well, depends who’s available. Likely not a lot of greater options if we’re being honest.

It’s also that the chances are anyone we sign is going to be around a minimum of 2 years longer than Pep. I’d rather the new manager, if it happens, was inheriting the best available. Not sure Luiz is.
