It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

I'm going to say it's unlikely that a player moving up from the championship to the premier league is going to have a release clause in his first contract.
To be fair, its possible. Wharton had his pick of clubs and Palace may have been happy to have the release clause because it guarantees them a big profit if he does well and it gets his talents for whatever length of time he is there.

United would have offered it already.

United cant pay a release clause, they dont have the money to do so.

This is why they have paid more than the release clause on one of their recent signings on the proviso that the fee can be spit over several seasons.
so they would have offered more instead. Either way if he had a price at 50m teams would be at the door already.
