Pep is a big fan of the player but does seem strange we have left it this late, unless we were waiting for the Bellingham deal to be announced.

Big Sam did a podcast with Natalie Pike last week, think Sherwood was the other guest.

Pike asks who will Declan Rice play for next season, Sherwood says Arsenal, Big Sam then out of nowhere says Man City. He always has his ear on the ground for these things. Has lots of contacts in the game.

Pep second season we got rid of a kid of players in the summer and brought in 5 I think and didn’t we get 100 points?

We brought in Haaland, Alvarez, Akanji, Phillips, Ortega, Gomez, and Perrone and promoted Lewis THIS season and won the treble! Thats over one third of the squad (8/23). I'm sure we can manage 5 or so in and/or out as long as that doesn't include both Bernardo and Gundo...: )

Seems to me the leaks are from the West Ham side trying to panic Arsenal into paying more. I’m sure we’d be interested in Rice but that “blow them out of the water” quote if accurate seems motivational to me.

I doubt we'd need to blow them out of the water if we want him. The player will either prefer us or he won't. All we have to do is match the amount WHU want if he prefers us.

Rice would be perfect. Stones is made of glass and Phillips isn’t good enough. Would be the perfect role actually for Rice.
But, if we go back to 4-5-1 with normal full backs like the Walker and Cancelo days then we wouldn’t really need Rice.
