You remember when Rodri first joined? We looked so vulnerable on counters. Not an easy task. He will take time, just need to keep playing him as much as possible.

The thing is Rodri hasn’t had the injury problems Kalvin has had , his last season at leeds he was injured most the season, then his first season here he was injured most the season,

he looks slower than he did at Leeds injuries do take a toll, I want Kalvin to do well, he’s a nice guy also he was a very good player at Leeds, he just looks to have lost a little of his pace and physicality due to those injuries

He was throwing himself into tackles at Leeds really good at breaking up play with his intensity but he looks scared to even tackle someone right now , could be the fear of getting injured again.

Best midfielder in the world for me. But agreed it took time. We have to allow Phillips time this season, he can only become a better player playing regularly, for his sake we can hope he impresses Pep in training and keeps focus.
for all our sakes let hope he steps up.

i wonder if we are trying to finalise our winger signing before letting Mahrez leave? Gone very quiet on that and maybe we have learned to sign before we let go?

What a player. Lovely stuff. Nothing more than he deserves.

Remember the so called ‘experts’ judging our business when we signed him for £40m from a newly relegated Bournemouth? Look how far he’s come. One of our most important players without whom our treble would not be possible. I would even go far as saying him playing left back and showing his quality forced Pep to change the system as much as Rico/Stones did on the other side. It made him realise the value he offers in terms of covering space on the left and being very strong in 1v1s, aerially solid too.

He’s a major reason I’m not overly bothered if we do not end up getting Gvardiol. Gem as Josko is, he would learn a lot from our senior players, but even an understudy is not a bad shout who could rotate for Ake.
He fully deserves it / that’s why I’m paying £65 a match ticket this season.

He is fucking miles off Rodri's class and capabilities, and while it took him a while to properly adjust and get up to speed, coming from a slower pace and different culture.....his quality was always under the surface, and there were regular glimpses of his capabilities.

Philips is not a bad player but he is not good enough to fully deputise, and he is never going to get that playing time in our side.

He looked a class act from day one, the only issue as you quite rightly say was the adjustment to the PL.

The same with Spanish Dave, but their class was always on view.

Phillips is a very decent player but there lies the issue.

You could be right but we’ll just have to wait and see. I don’t think Pep would take him in for the sake of, the underlying quality is there.

Anyone think we have been a bit carried away with the treble win and we are playing catch up and rushing around?
Seems as though absolutely nothing is happening.

He fucking wasn't. People on here lost their shit over him being a bit slower than Fernandinho but he was absolutely fine.

He was wank. It's a fair assessment. The turn around in him has to do with his ability to read the game at speed, which was almost absent in the early days. His turnaround is remarkable.

What the fuck is going with Laporte. One of the most consistent left sided center back of this decade, Treble winner and just saw him being linked to Crystal Palace for 30 million.

Why has his stock fallen so bad or top teams in Europe don’t need a center back no more ?
