It's Quiet 32 - enter at own risk

I had to Google him and if he was truly worse than Barney then he must have been shocking. Looking at his one senior game record then it could well be true.
I was there for his half a game (hauled off at HT), tbf he was never ready and was woeful, Gerry Creaney was much much worse based on reputation

You might well be right about the others but I still believe Otamendi is one of the better centre backs in the league.

But Stones’s propensity to make careless errors is admittedly a worry.

I’d be satisfied with someone like Ake from Bournemouth.
Otamendi would walk into any other PL first team, he’s only a back for us as we have Stones and Laporte who are exceptional players. Back these 3 up with Ferna, Walker, Danilo, García, Harwood-Bellis then no problem

I think you’re underestimating how much of a specialised position CB is. in possession I’m sure he will fit in there fine, but out of possession? as good as dinho is, he’s a 34 year old midfielder, expecting him to perform at a world class level consistently and not just a capable fill in for a game or two is a lot to ask.

The difference here though is we were forced into the other two examples because of season ending injuries to Mendy and missing out on our primary target at the last moment last season in Jorginho. this time we’re choosing to handicap ourselves. I’m sure we will be fine for the most part of the season but all it takes is one injury and a suspension at the wrong time and were screwed. It’s a huge risk to take when we don’t have to and there’s no real benefit to taking the risk other than saving some money that we can afford to spend.
That’s just an excuse, centre back is no more specialised than any other position, the only true specialised position is a goalkeeper. Fernandinho has adapted from playing attacking midfield to holding midfield in a two (well one considering he had Toure next to him) to a Pep style #6 all without a hitch. He’s even fit in at right and left back on occasion.

You’re seriously underestimating Fernandinho’s capabilities, he’s very tactically aware and vastly experienced. Playing as a Pep style #6 requires far more awareness out of possession when you’ve got runners behind you, in front of you and coming from either wing. Playing as a centre back is far easier especially in a Pep team, it’s literally knowing when to press and when to drop off but the way we play it’s intuitive and if anyone can adapt with ease it’s Fernandinho.

Hope not,we can't afford to lose another experienced defender

Especially one as good as Ota.

A return to Valencia, i could somewhat understand and give him my blessing, for the right fee and with a replacement lined up. But west ham makes no sense, for anyone.

Why do people keep repeating that shite, Sancho was still 16 when he decided he was leaving. It had nothing to do with lack of opportunities or minutes.

Some people seem to have taken a dislike to Sancho for deciding to leave for Dortmund, but anyone who believes his career would be at the same stage if he stayed at City is deluded. He pretty much starts every game now for Dortmund, and seems to make an impact in most of them. This has also enabled him to establish himself as a regular in England squads. It is hard to say what would have happened further down the line had he stayed at City, but I don't think anyone now can really say he made a bad decision. Yes, you could argue he might have benefited in the long run, being able to learn from Pep etc, and that is what we all hope will happen with Foden, but for a young lad, who hasn't grown up as a City fan, he has done what he felt was best for him, and it looks to be paying off for him.

Shows how difficult signing quality players without breaking the bank. eg., even though we have a space for HG player we don't appear to be making any progress signing another HG from elsewhere, just not good enough to improve squad. Slabhead you would have thought could have strengthened our defence but not at 90m. Said it before I reckon our dealings are over.
