It's Quiet - a new dawn

I think this summer is huge for Sterling.

Suddenly pressure of the price tag is gone. £50m is standard now.

He's going to be a big player next year in my view.

I think if we get either or both, we'll be 3 at the back all season to accomodate them all as best we can.

It might not work though.

Imo if we go for both, it's simply because we've promised Sanchez we'll try to buy him.

Mbappe won't be signed with a short term plan in mind, he'd just be signed because of what he is & worry about the consequences afterwards.

If it upsets someone, it's unfortunate but it had to be done.

Aguero has an exit plan is my guess, & he will be gone back to Argentina in the near future, so.this could be his last season.

I was absolutely hammered for saying Sergio might leave this summer if we get our intended targets.

Do people still think Sergio would accept a diminished role. I just can't see it?

I certainly can. He would still play a lot of games, break the scoring record and probably win a few trophies, possibly even the CL by the time the CL gets serious I'm sure the squad will be much more in sync.

He could then go back to Argentina an even bigger legend than he already is. This looks like the better option for me. The alternative is signing a 3/4 year contract that will extend his stay in Europe, probably far longer than he originally planned. Can only see him willing to switch clubs if Barca come in for him which I think would be unlikely.

The more competition the better, we saw Aguero push himself even further when Jesus was fit, personally think he can go up another level if fully focused and determined.

Aguero is the only nailed on proven certainty of the whole forward line, in that you know what you will get. Sanchez would be the second most reliable.

The rest, including Mbappe, are kids, who we hope, live up to their talent. Not nailed on proven performers.

It would be a huge gamble, to release Aguero & rely on newly signed kids. Borderline madness imo.

That makes the assumption that he's at his peak. I don't think he is. I think there are signs he is past his best already.

As much as I'd love to see us lining up with Mbappe, Jesus and Sane/Sanchez I think it would be the wrong move to get rid of Aguero, getting rid of the best striker in the league and one of the best in the world I can't come round to, Mbappe probably will be class but I still wouldn't swap him for Aguero.

I know people will say that Mbappe is for the future and we could potentially get years out of him but I don't think Aguero's done yet. Next season maybe.

If we sign both Sanchez & Mbappe, it isn't just Aguero who has to accept a lesser role, it's all of them.

And seeing as Jesus & Sanchez play a lot of their football in positions other than striker, & we have also signed Bernardo Silva who can play a similar position, & Aguero has just scored 30 goals, the wide players should be equally peeved imo.

Can people seriously see Mbappe as a lone striker with his back to goal against Robert Huth & co with a parked bus & no protection from the ref in January ? It's not going to happen. He will keep losing the ball. You wnt him running ag people or behind, like Henry. You play Aguero central or Jesus there. Most likely Aguero.

Of course they will all play less but I just can't see all of them staying if we'd get Sanchez and Mbappe. That's just too much and playing time would be reduced significantly for all of them. Aguero himself would hardly accept it, when he was benched for Jesus last year, his line was - I'll fight until the end of the season and then we'll see. He was not overhelmed with joy and that's of course normal for player of his quality.

Sane and Jesus are absolutely safe, it's Sterling who should be next most worrying but considering his age, I think he'd need to have a very bad season to be moved. We're building next generation team here and his age with his quality should be enough him for now. Dembele next year though :) and that would be serious problem for Raheem if he doesn't shine this year. And as much as Pep is talking positive about Kun publicly, I just don't see the passion in that talk like when he is talking about Sane, jesus and even Sterling. In case of overcrowding in attack, imo, he'd want Aguero out.

Saying all of this, I still can't see us getting both Mbappe and Sanchez though, don't think we can pull all that up so if only one or God forbid neither comes, than Aguero and everybody else stay.

Over the years many great teams have shown that treading water gets you nowhere. We have been guilty of it but arguably ffp was the reason.

This summer Pep is saying fuck waiting for a year. Buy the talent we need now. He has bought a potential Silva replacement with his namesake. He wants a proven Prem player in Sanchez to take the chances we missed last season. He loves Aguero but doesn't fear getting people in to challenge him now.

Jesus De Bruyne Bernardo Silva Sane Sterling Mbappe Sanchez... average age of what?! Frightening potential.

I'm sure you are right he is past his peak , but that is the only reason it's even a discussion, othrrwise he would be the first player picked.

The others are all kids, bar Sanchez if he comes & it's very rare kids maintain form. Sometimes it goes totally pear shaped for a period. These kids are so supremely talented, that there's a decent chance they can keep performing, but it's not a certainty.

And what if Jesus got injured again ? Mbappe or Sanchez with their backs to goal fighting it out at cf with hairy arsed Prem cbs kicking lumps out of them from behind & getting no free kick ?

Aguero has just scored 30 goals in a season where he's been struggling to adapt, banned twice & at one stage looked to be lacking a bit of confidence. Still, 30 goals.

Pep would have to be a right tit imo, to chuck that out just because he might worry Aguero is 'unhappy' at less games. He probably won't be here much longer anyhow, so we should make the best of it.

Aguero actually said last season that he hoped he could stay, but he had to find out if City wanted him to.

If he sticks to his original plan, he will be leaving soon anyhow. In that group, he could leave with a Champions League medal.

yep, he said that. He's smart enough though to see what's going on if get two players more in attacking positions. In all honesty, I don't think City would ever openly push him out but in eventually getting these two, the message to him is pretty clear.

for the second line, that would be some farewell.

Agreed. We saw the inconsisentcy of Sterling and Sane, the latter which many over look.

We need both Aguero and Sanchez, then in 2-3 years when they're both gone or play a smaller role, the kids will be much more mature and ready to take over and blossom.
