It's Quiet - a new dawn

Madrid apparently want Otamendi, City's best defender this season.
City want Southampton's second best defender this year.

That one is valued twice as high as the other doesn't make sense. Especially when you consider the buying and selling clubs.
We bought one of the most sought after centre backs in Spain for £34 million, he's played nearly every game in two seasons and is now wanted by Madrid, our own fans are somehow valuing him at half of a lad who's had a good 7-10 months at Southampton and 12 caps for an appaulling national side.

As I've said, I'm not Otamendi's biggest fan. But Madrid seem to be and I don't get how anyone can rate VVD far higher than Otamendi.

The problem Otamendi has in my opinion is that he can't lead a back four.

With Vinny he is a tank, but without him he struggles and is prone to the most ridiculous of errors.

I feel City want to bring someone in who they believe can step up and lead when Vinny is out.

Is it me or do we fans rate everyone we are interested in as world class and say oh he is worth it just pay (inset any number you like here) and our own players the opposite. Never worth that we overpaid will be lucky to get (insert much lower fee here) ?

It's all about opinions mate.

A fair few on here think we will get at least £60 Million for Otamendi. Me personally i don't think we will.

If Madrid want him, we should be pulling their pants down, much like we get our pants pulled down.
It's not like we're trying to offload him to some second rate team. The clear best team in Europe want him. They want him for a reason and it's not because he's someone far inferior to VVD. Perhaps some opinions should be a little more open.

If it's true and we're talking about Madrid wanting our player, he's worth more than VVD.

I'm not offering my opinion on his abilities, but let's be honest, what's to say VVD is a leader, he's barely kicked a ball in Fonte's absence who wax the clear leader of the defence.

My point is if Madrid want him, he's certainly worth as much as VVD especially if we have no interest in selling him.
VVD just seems to be the new toy in the box. Like Fonte & Lovern before him, I'm not so sure he's the next best thing.

I wouldn't pay £50m for VVD.

I personally still believe City and Pep will go all out for Bonucci.

Now Bonucci is a player who should be rated far higher and at a far greater price than Otamendi. VVD might be no better than Lovern, that was my argument. 6-12 months decent football shouldn't rank him at twice the price as Otamendi.

Looks solid here. I know it means fuck all on YouTube but a lot of people would be creaming themselves if we were about to spend £30m+ on this guy.
He's actually pretty decent.
