It's Quiet - a new dawn

The reports on here certainly make it seem like Pickford is the one. More reliable than the rumors about Ederson IMO.

Then 9/1 at Skybet is great value. I thought Emerson was dead certain though hence his actions on Instagram etc.

I think most think Maffeo is the problem. Whether he has been misled or just being overlooked. Much rather have Fabinho and Maffeo or even Walker and Maffeo.

Oh dear, blue moon outrage as promising youth starlet is not ready for the first team yet. Where have I heard that before? It's crazy that the majority on here have no patience when it comes to our youth academy.

I rate Maffeo but he's not ready yet. A season and a half on loan at Girona along with one appearance, albeit a great performance, for our club does not merit a starting or squad berth at 19. Has anyone mentioned the fact it's a year extension for Navas and in 12 months time he'll be out the door? Making a space available for a promising youngster who might potentially then have had a season on loan in La Liga. Even then he might not be ready and may have to go out on loan again.

Navas has been an average if not below par player for us, but his work ethic has never been questionable. He's looked decent at RB the past few games and as long as we bring someone else in as our main RB I don't see what the problem is.

There are three main problems.

1. Is he good enough to potentially stop Ronaldo? Bale? Messi? Neymar? Ribery? Robben? Apparently we want to be the best in Europe, now please explain to us how playing Navas at right back in a genuinely big game isn't self sabotage.

2. If your argument is that 'he doesn't have to play in the biggest games, that's why we'll sign ..........!' and we'll be expecting him to play against the Hull's, Burnley's etc, and to cover injuries and rotation, then why the hell would he not give this role to Maffeo!?

3. He's shite.

I had a wobble earlier in the season and lost my patience with Pep, but since then I've given my head a wobble and I'm very much looking forward to next season with him, but if this is true and he really is thinking of keeping Navas, then I'm very worried about next season - not just because of Navas, but because he's obviously just so stubborn that he won't change his ways, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Bravo stay.

He needs to understand that Chelsea won't be easy to catch up with. They're brilliant. They're solid and clinical. We're neither. This was supposed to be Pep's year for bedding in and getting used to the league - people won't be so lenient with him next term.

If what is true about Navas then Pep has the rest of the season plus pre season to get him adjusted to the position permanently (as Conte did with Moses) although id like to see him as a backup to the likes of Walker but we dont know what Navas will want does he want to play there or will he want to move on and play his normal position.

1. He didn't do too bad against Sanchez and Hazard. And he'd be a back up RB.

2. Maffeo is not ready yet.

3. If you have actually watched him at RB then you wouldn't think so. In midfield he is awful, but used to give us good balance down the right flank before other managers realized he was a one trick pony.

Agree on your last two paragraphs there. But is signing two quality right backs really going to help us play catch up with Chelsea?

Navas works hard and has pace, but his strongest suit is arguably he can do a job temporarily at RB with only costing us wages.

Given Seville were unlikely to fork over a big fee for him, and our multiple other positions we need to buy for, having squad depth at RB covered for one year is worth it IMO.

based on posters on here and journalists, pickford is the goalie we are after not ederson. ?

This actually isn't true.

@BillyShears is the one saying we are in for Pickford. The media haven't linked us to him specifically in a while.

Meanwhile, City have an agreement with Benfica for Ederson, among other clear signs he's coming, according to Portuguese media.

Am i the only one who doesn't trust Ederson or Pickford? They are young and will certainly improve but if we gonna spend big on keeper why not just buy Donnarumma and use Caberllo and Gunn alternatively as second keeper.

He is as good as Navas right now. That is what I believe.

You asked a stupid question that could have been answered if you just read the previous posts. I answered you. No need to be a dick.

Agree totally with this! Maffeo has looked the part when playing
