It's Quiet - a new dawn

FFS give it a rest. Some posters make this transfer forum unbearable at times.

I'm responding to criticisms pointed at me, and people saying everyone at the club is above criticism from us fans, if you dont want to be distracted by it just click the ignore button, I won't lose any sleep.

I mean, coming from someone who thinks Pep sent Maffeo to Girona to "fuck him off", it's a bit rich to be talking about posting bullshit here.

No, I didn't say sending him to Girona was fucking him off, I said re-signing Navas and sending him on another loan would be.

Who's trying to shut down discussion here? It's a legitimate point.

"What do you know you're not a manager, don't bother questioning decisions made by the club or manager" is 100% shutting down discussion.

It's not a legitimate point because it could be applied to 99% of comments made on this forum

Anyway this is all getting away from transfers so I'll summarise and then piss off.

IMHO IMO IMHO re-signing Navas is condemning Maffeo to the same fate we've seen for the last dozen kids that were good enough to get a chance but never did, and it's a collossal mistake by Guardiola, who should take a leaf out of Pochettino, Koeman, Klopp and van Gaal's books and just give the kid a chance instead of waiting until he's so pissed off at the players being put ahead of him that he leaves on a free.

I'd imagine the reason for offering Navas a new deal is fairly obvious. He wants to spend a lot of his budget on two first choice fullbacks, meaning they have to save money elsewhere, so keeping Navas around for another year saves money on a replacement. I don't think it affects Maffeo as he doesn't actually require a squad place due to him being U21 and HG, it's just an insurance policy as you don't realistically want to be relying entirely on a young kid or Navas as your fulltime RB If anything happens to whoever our first choice will be. Seems perfectly sensible to me if we're going to be blowing a huge chunk of our budget on two out and out first choice fullbacks. I'm more curious about what we'll be doing about a backup LB, as we really don't want to be relying on Kolarov for that

I'm no more "obsessed" with Maffeo than any other youth player that's been passed over when their time to get a chance had so clearly arrived, and seen their City career never happen because of it.

The forum comment was quite clearly sarcasm, I think the tone of that was pretty clear and the point remains true, if we can't question decisions made by players, managers or the club then what the hell are you doing on here discussing those things?

Yeah, so would I, but I've got every right to say I feel the manager, who admits himself he makes plenty of mistakes, is making another mistake here, and complain about that on a forum dedicated to discussion about City, and in this case our transfer business of re-signing a 31 year old winger instead of giving a promising youth player a chance.

maffeo did brilliantly v united ,looked the business to us fans, what we didn't see was how he handled it after that,he could of been mentally shot for a week ,he could of been a billy big bollox after it, maybe pep saw something that said maffeo has the talent to play full back for one of the top 10/15 teams in world football but hasn't quite got the maturity, that is the reason I will back peps judgement over yours , with the greatest respect.

Backup left back could be someone like Cucurella from Barcelona B, who we've been linked with in the last week. Otherwise who knows, maybe Clichy will get another contract too.
