It's Quiet - a new dawn

Can't see Rose wanting to push to leave to join us. Pep would be the only thing that may change that, or Spurs selling other stars and showing a lack of ambition. Still think it would take a Barcelona, Bayern, Madrid to tempt him to push for a move. Wouldn't mind being wrong though.

Rose is a northern lad. Don't underestimate the pull that we could have, especially as it's well known that Spurs won't be spending/strengthening to any serious degree this summer. Will they be closer to the title and a better side next season without investment? Can they keep up with Chelsea/City and even United if they go big again?

More importantly, Rose is a Pochettino favorite and success story, Spurs aren't about the rock the boat and risk losing the manager driving their success who will almost certainly be head hunted by clubs like PSG if he becomes available.

Rose is a top left back, but he's not the right fit for our system IMO and it doesn't seem likely that Spurs move him on regardless.

Levy ain't daft he will know the fee for Rose is at it peak this summer. If they don't sell we will look else where, like we did when Sanchez and Isco turned us down

That's all good and well for fantasy football. In the real world we're going to sign a specialist left sided full back this summer. Pep prefers balance so the left sided player will be left footed.

Let me know when you come up with one who's actually better than Rose, costs less, and is gettable.

I love your stuff mate, but I completely disagree with you on this.
Sandro is a better left back than Rose , but it is as difficult to get him as Rose.
Guerreiro from BVB is a quality attacking fullback, he has the football brains to suit Pep's system and he'd be half the price. Maybe currently he is not at Rose's level but everything about him suggests that he can easily surpass him.
It was completely understandable to spend that amount on 20/21 y/o but not on a freakin 27 y/o LB!
We can get both Henrichs and someone like Guerreiro for that amount and they are both very young and versatile footballers that would flourish under Pep.

Having said that, if we were talking about something along the lines of 30-35m then it's a no brainer.
I think we have to do a lot of business this summer and spending 50 on a LB doesn't sound very smart.

Many Spurs fans will cite him as their most important player, pre-injury, but the only thing Rose has going for him is his nationality. If he wasn't English then, for us, it would be a low-ball bid when (particularly for the hefty price tag he will command) superior options are available that would also integrate far better into Pep's system (Grimaldo, Bernat etc) along with being younger.

He would obviously be an upgrade on the nobody (Clichy? Out of position Fernandinho?) we have there right now, but the only reason I can think of to target Rose is that he's a good left back who happens to be English. His pass accuracy, possession percentage, key passes and dribbles attempted/completed are below the competition and are lacking compared to what one would expect from a Pep-side left back.

I'm not normally a stats guy as I like to use my eyes to decide on players. The stats though do help in painting a picture. The picture below isn't of someone who only has their nationality going for them. Strikes me that Rose, statistically, is EXACTLY a Pep full back, even with the lower pass completion % than some of his competitors.

This isn't necessarily a realistic 11, but if we could create this team I would be a very happy man. It's also too attacking, but who really cares...

Ederson
Fabinho Stones Otamendi Rose
De Bruyne Veratti
Dele Alli
Sterling Jesus Sane

Subs: Gunn, Michael Keane, Zaba, Fernandinho, Silva, Aguero, Iheanacho

I'm not easily embarrassed big man. You crack on though, and be sure to let me know when you think of a gettable left back who you think is better than Rose.
You have gone from ''arguably the best l/b in the world' to 'a gettable left back who is better than Rose'. Not actually sure he is the best left back at Spurs

I think the key thing to remember is that Pep will be going into this wanting the best possible chance of winning the PL and the CL next season. I appreciate that there's players who MIGHT develop into better full backs than Rose, but Pep has to buy for the here and now in that position. Wherever we go, whether it's Rose or it's Henricks, or it's Alba or Gaya, they're all costing upwards of 30 million pounds. At that point all talk of 'value' is over anyway. You may as well buy the best one you can get, and that'd be Rose.

50mil for rose is crazy, but he is head and shoulders above what we currently have, English and is proven in the league. Is he worth it no could we pay it yes. I would prefer kolasinac on a free but I certainly wouldn't be upset if rose landed he improves us. And people criticising the amount young players coming through blame the fa. We need b teams in the championship, the league is way too tight to take a chance on young players and the loan system does not work player do get experience but not in the way we play or even in the right position half the time. If we had a b team like in Spain our young players would get high level experience playing the way we play and the management can see exactly if they are up to the task. Look at ake was a key player at Bournemouth recalled and doesn't even make the Chelsea bench half the time.
