What home truths would those be?

Most people would say the squad we've amassed is on a par with CL contenders if we get Sanchez, I can't imagine he'd really be telling them the team isn't good enough without Mbappe.

He's got that already though. Sané, Gundogan, Stones, Bravo, Ederson, Walker, Mendy, Danilo, Jesus, B.Silva...Sterling and KDB if you believe he was involved in them...plus a new CB and Sanchez.

That'd be 14 of the squad that are his picks, and it's an amazing squad - most neutrals would call it the best in the league and definitely worthy of contending for a CL.

A tad confrontational if you dont mind me asking but given i like you i will answer......... ;-)

I expect us to win the league this season, end of.

Domestic cups are a bonus but the league is all important.

CL is difficult given you have to overcome the Spanish giants and Bayern as well as the refs and UEFA but with this squad we shouldn't be far off making the final sooner rather than later if not winning it.

More importantly mate Pep will agree with that and more no doubt and will expect far more than what we as fans will imo.

For me the domestic league is always priority number one..

Domestic cups are a bit of a lottery. (esp the CC).....depends on how other managers decide to take them and the luck of the draw

CL - well we get stiffed in that every year with the draw at the group stage...(not sure how we change that).....weve done well to get through the last 16 (and further) when we have done it.......there is also that lottery element to it with he draw in the latter stages.

FWIW, I agree entirely. League title is a must; any other domestic honours a bonus. CL is a slightly longer term project, no matter how much the squad has improved, and a really good showing would suffice next year.
 
I doubt Pep had to tell too many "home truths" to Sheik Mansour, Khaldoon, Ferran or Txiki. Throughout the season he will simply have stated his opinion - the opinion of the best coach in the wold, pursued by City for years - that City did not have a team capable of winning one trophy, never mind four, without the acquisition of several players who could reduce the average age of the team while, at the same time, turning problem positions into strengths. Not surprisingly the club has backed Pep with the finance required and Txiki has played an absolute blinder in getting deals agreed. We look an entirely different prospect to last season and should be genuine contenders in all four competitions. That' not to take anything for granted, but the project seems to be progressing in the most exciting way. And if we can get Sachez ........and Mbapé.....Wow!
