It's quiet... summer 2018.

Alright fine we wouldn't currently have any right now, my point was more if the rules worked like that we would have cultivated plenty ie: players like Unal before he was sold could never have played in the UK because he wouldn't get a work permit but would miraculously count as club trained after 3 years this july.

And players who are promising and currently playing in the development squads would likely have just been loaned instead because the u18, u23 standard of football is obviously well below the standard of pretty much any competitive league.

Who are the u18 and u23 kids who are too good for that level but we are keeping so they become club trained?

Benjamin Garre, Lorenzo Gonzalez are easily good enough to play proper football in my opinion, let me take a wild guess and just assume you disagree.

Dom, the point I was trying to make was just that if the rules were so easy to pass that you could be club trained without ever having set foot at the CFA, that we would have exploited that fact immensely over the last few years - not about whether or not we currently have any of those players or if any of the current group would be on loan instead.

Apparently athletico have had initial talks with aguero’s entourage about a move back.

I saw that also.....would normally pass it off as a load of rubbish but the tweet was from Jose, so atleast made me think there could be some truth in it....whether he would go is another matter!

Jose Alvarez Haya‏ @10JoseAlvarez
Kun Agüero in the thinking of Atletico de Madrid for next season. This week could make some movement. One more team interested in the argentinian player.

sergio repeatedly says he is staying to the end of his contract then he is going home, they can want all they want

Have you seen much of Garre? I thought he's spent more time off the pitch than on it since he's gotten here. Pretty curious about him

I would rather have our 18 year olds play then others.
For whatever reasons,we did lose Sancho.
Making such signings will fasten exits of Brahim and Foden too
this is small thinking....the truth is if brahim and foden are good enough it wont matter who we sign....if kluivert is better then both of them and become stars thats not on us

Did his progress actually stall, though?

Would love to read some analysis from the Bundesliga outlets or Pep about it.

You talk about the Swiss Messi?

Was fine with Heynckes when he could cross on Mandzu or Gomez - but even then he was far behind the others. He lacks match intelligence - his decision making and interacting with others are nowhere near the quality Pep needs.

The current kids at the academy are just getting used to U23 football. Garre is definitely not ready for senior football, he is a toothpick.

Gonzalez is quite jacked and he is quick, but I don't know if technically or mentally he will make it. He might, I think a loan would do him good.

Honestly people who want us to play academy players aren't asking us to use alot of academy players. If only Foden, Diaz and Nmecha get promoted and make it over the next few years I will be perfectly content.

If you want to know which academy players to watch in the future who can explode I think the most exciting are:

1) Rabbi Matondo, welsh winger who can play RW or LW
2) Felix Nmecha, Lukas' brother and whom some consider the bigger talent, plays central attacking midfield
3) Taylor Richards, was injured but showed alot of promise and can break out after recovering from injury, plays central attacking midfield

Unfortunately at youth level it is difficult to ascertain whether defenders can make it, so while Joel Latibaudiere looks good, he needs a loan to play against men.
